There are so many different types of cages on aliexpress . Recommended steal. Make sure it is made with 304 stainless steel . I am sure you can find what you are looking for there. ? QUESTION why not a barrel lock for the cage ?

Padlocks seem to be falling out of favor and off hand I’m not sure there is a “short” device that uses a padlock. Check DH Gate, AliExpress, etc. to be sure.

I suspect you are concern about the lock failing in some way, if that’s you’re concern there’s a super short device that uses a “security” Torx screw.

Also you can upgrade the barrel lock . I did and it was worth the 5 dollars . You have to buy separate .

The click of the padlock is fun but so impractical for everyday use. The Chinese knockoff barrel locks are junk and as far as I know there is only 1 quality manufacturer which is Burg Wachter. Buy one of these and throw the others in the garbage. https://www.steinlock.com/burg-wachter-me2-lock-blocker-for-furniture.html

If you must do a padlock, ABUS is probably the best. Personally, I like security screws.

There are SO many available online and we don’t know what you seek so hard to make recommendations for you. I’d suggest narrowing them down and post links to ask for feedback. Thing is, you are NOT going to get the right cage whatever you pick. You will learn what you like and don’t like and buy another and another. We all have a drawer of past cages. Buy 3-4 different ones starting out and you will be on your way.
