Literally the only thing stopping me from ordering a Jail Bird is the locking mechanism options. The pad lock just won’t cut it for us, but even worse than that is the policy behind the security screw. No backup key or way to get new screws is a 100% deal breaker for us.

Have any of you rigged together an alternative solution? We want multiple keys for various reasons, plus we want to be able to replace a pretty major failure point (literally the only moving part in the entire contraption) when needed.

I am almost 100% sure if you asked them for extra screws and extra keys for the screw they will send them to you for a price.... have you asked them yet? They generally pick up on the first couple rings and are very friendly. I have talked to William numerous times on the phone, but his wife has replied to my e-mail within 12 hours.

Outside that it is important to note that the locks and screws they use are such as exact fit, your device will never wiggle or jiggle. So if you use something that isn't what they make the device based off of, it might not be a perfect fit.

I agree with @King Hippo, they are fantastic to work with!

That being said, I can confirm that the screws from malechastitynow are the same size as the older MM devices. Unless that has changed, which I doubt, you should be good to use those as well.

Repeat all the above. Talk to them about your needs, they are great to do business with.

The screw is a common stainless steel 8-32 machine screw. You could google “tamper resistant screws” and find several options if you are uncomfortable with theirs.

Yes, an 8-32 screw of the right length and some nail polish to make it tamper-evident should do the job. With some Teflon plumbers tape on the threads, the screw will stay tight indefinitely. The cage also comes with two screws and two keys, so you always have a backup.

Also, regarding MM’s customer service, I once stripped one of the two bits and screws for my cage when I tried using loctite to keep the screw in place (not recommended), and I was able to send both back for replacement for a small fee ($10 or $20, I don’t remember exactly how much, but it was minimal). That was super easy to deal with, and I haven’t had any other problems in close to four years of 24/7 wear.

I would encourage you to just go ahead and order. The biggest downside of the screw, in my opinion, is that it takes away your KH’s ability to quickly unlock and relock you. Of course in practice that just leads to longer lockups, so your KH may not think that’s a downside at all.

MM has customer service not commonly found in today’s world. Reach out to Mistress MM and I’m sure they will work with you. I’ve had to have my cage adjusted twice and it was done very quickly and for a minimal cost. Cannot say enough good things about Mature Metal!

I have been using the screw that came with my jail bird for 4 years now and have never had a problem. I wouldn't worry about it.

You get two "keys" with the security screws, just like most locking systems. It makes for the sleekest device I've worn yet.

The only two real problems with the MM security screw are 1) it's not an actual lock if "clicking the lock shut" is part of the excitement, and 2) it can be a bit of a challenge to get the screw started in the threads, since you need to align it two ways. I'd love it if MM could create a system where the holes in the post and the cage self-align, but I imagine that would add considerably to the fabrication.

Mature Metal is a very easy company to work with.
I have had nothing but pleasant experiences with them.
Send an email, Talk with them about your needs before you order.
I would be pretty surprised if they can't find a way to accommodate you.

They’re great folks. I don’t know anyone who has anything bad to say about their customer service. I know I’ve had great interactions with 5hem.

New screws = Fastenal. There’s nothing special about a “security” Torx.

The screws are custom. I can assure you that.
I have both devices. One from Male Chastity Now, and Mature Metal. The Contender Security screw is a standard screw with the security option, However the Mature Metal screws that came with my queens keep is a custom screw. The driver that came with it only fit one way.

Yes, Mature Metal is now using a unique security screw. I didn't realize that at the time I posted my previous message.
