I’m getting tired of having to take my device off each time I fly. I’m not a fan of plastic devices, so I’m thinking of getting one in titanium. Interested in advice as to whether titanium will or won’t get picked up by the metal detectors at airports.

Chances are it will be detected.

RE: Plastic devices - is it just the material, or the designs?

Why don't you test your device at the airport?

Wrap it in a handkerchief or a small bag and put it in your pocket. Put the lock in your other pocket. Then go through security with them in your pockets.

At the first detection, pull the lock out of your pocket (innocent mistake!)
If the device is detected you can offer to put it through the machine, or just discretely show it to the security guard. No one's going to see exactly what you have in your hand except the security guard, and he/she is going to be busy and not bothered about a small "toy" that won't blow an aircraft up. They'll more likely just insist you put it through the scanner and you'll get through fairly quickly.

I have been through courthouses and airport scanners and metal detectors with no issue in my steelworks tube.

Interesting because mine has set off the metal detectors at Disney World (not a Steelworks, but made out of stainless steel).

My new knee sets the metal detectors off like a Christmas tree!! Its stainless steel. As such I have never attempted to wear the Lori's and we always replace it with the Bijou.
Prior to the knee op, the Bijou sails through the detectors, even with its brass barrel lock and steel PA pin.
