Several Sundays a month I host a casual afternoon meal. It’s open to who ever stops by. Family style comfort food.

I held my last one one year ago, until today.

I sent messages to my friends and neighbors asking them to stop by if they were comfortable doing so. I put everything in single serving bags to minimize contact. I put a basket of them on my front porch for those who still need to avoid contact.

Friday afternoon I was driving home from west Texas on a curvy two lane road. I was coming around curve Speeding like I always do. The oncoming pickup truck was drifting into my lane. I could see the guy looking down into his passenger seat. He just kept drifting over. I threw my truck into the ditch and jammed on the brakes; the guy behind me did the same. By the time we got stopped the oncoming guy was long gone. This incident drove home the fact that I’m a whole lot more likely to die on a lonely road in the middle of nowhere than from the virus.

It’s spring time in Texas, a time for renewal and rebirth.

Y’all get to Texas on a Sunday afternoon you should stop and have a piece of pie. Bring your appetite and a mask.

    Cheers

What a magnificent post Rodeo. Of course, I feel terribly for the actual event, but I love your response to it. Indeed, there are far more likely things that will kill us than this virus.

    The food looks yummie!

Glad you are still with us!
