My new Bon4m Micro is on its way which, having an external lock, means I can wear a plastic keyholder tag when I work away.

The only ones I have came with one of my early off-the-shelf cages and they are frankly rubbish. Many of the tags have the same number and you can pull the clip out of the catch without it breaking.

I'm looking for some high quality replacements. What do you use and what would you recommend?

    Thanks

Get on Amazon and look for numbered plastic security seal - many options and you can buy them in packs of 100,200,500 etc. They also have some that work the same with wire “cables” instead of plastic that would need to be cut with small wire cutters to remove if you want an extra layer of security.

Trust me, the plastic ones are plenty strong. I can't break mine with my bare hands (and my hands are motorcycle-driver strong).

I thought the point of the tags was to "know" if they were opened, not to make it difficult to open? I guess it depends on the individual and what is important.

Yep - tamper evident. Though maybe if they're too flimsy one could end up with false positives. And that would be a shame. :)

So many of these that I've tried the post pulls right out of the slot and doesn't break off. These have a perforated part just above the post the plugs into the slot that makes it easier to break. They're the best I've found so far.

    Thanks,

    Brandon

Most of the plastic security tags are rubbish, you can push the barb of the tag through too far and expose them, then using sand paper take the corners off the barb and carefully pull it back to release the plastic lock.

Then afterwards put it back in again with a tiny drop of super glue/krazyglue and nothing looks tampered with so actually they are on trust basis and that's not supposed to be the case

You *must* use them with a generous drop of glue in the plastic lock from the start to prevent that or they are not tamper evident.

If you have a look at my gallery you can see the one I use, it wont break unless you cut it and very secure. Mine is the 1.5mm cable version, the cable is tough, it takes a decent pair of side cutters to cut through it

    I bought mine from here:

    https://www.securityseals.com.au/barrier-seals/cable-seals/

I dont use them though, my partner is not too keen on them, and plus since my cage normally comes off every week or so its a bit pointless. If we ever do a longer stint my might ask her if she wants it sealed, because even though my cage is very secure, the tag makes it literally impossible lol

I use them also, only purchased from Amazon. Those I have are 1,8mm thick and secures the belt. There is no way of tampering them if you pull them tight on the cage/belt.
