So I know the general consensus on devices is metal is better. I have tried both metal and plastic and I prefer plastic much more, my reasoning is because metal devices start to slide down and need constant readjusting (for me at least). Plastic just tends to stay against my body and is much more comfortable. What does everyone else prefer? How do you avoid the slide down of metal devices?

Unlucky has told you like it is.

If you feel you need to wear something supportive with slightly heavier cages then do so.

    Simples.

I think we used to assume that you’d start with a plastic cbxxxx cage and once you worked out what fitted then order a custom cage. These tended to be metal.
I think this is where the metal is better than plastic thing comes from.

The thing is now many start with a metal copy of a plastic cage which are heavier than they have designed to be. Plastic being in thicker due to it being less strong than metal.

The question to which is better material for a chastity device is a contentious one. They both have great properties. When the material is taken into account when designing a device, moving too far from that material or design will give problems.

I prefer metal for two reasons.
It's more hygienic. Metal cages due to their strength generally have larger hole to let perspiration out and cleaning water in.
Metal cages tell your psych that you ain't gettin' out easily. That click of the lock becomes much louder!

Its metal for me, for many reasons, but one is that it seems more secure, more real. But that's just me. If you like plastic, or resin better then go for it. The idea that cages have to be one material, is no more accurate than the concept of a one-size-fits all design.

I only have experience with cheap metal ones but I much prefer the plastic ones. I always wear supportive underwear and even after tying leather straps to help support metal cages it is still becomes uncomfortable to me extremely fast. I didn't think I would like plastic but I was pleasantly surprised. There are pros and cons to everything.

Have used both cages over the years and I have to say I prefer plastic, I just find them more comfy, and I find a good pair of briefs or a thong is the best support, if I wear boxers I find my cage will always slip to one side.

Metal 100%. The weight doesn’t bother me. I only do Lori devices and they fit like a glove. Expensive option but once they are right it’s a forever cage. I to started with a CB device, it was too long and I got bruising and chafting in it. I got the short version and it was much better but on two occasions the plastic seam split open, pinched the skin and cut me. I think a lot of people do not realize how a device should fit. There should be no room for growth. The plastic CB are just not strong enough.

Hey I looked at your profile and looks like you are eager to get started !! Cool! Welcome!

it is a preference issue but there are some consistent issues that come up over time. I suggest you wear each device two weeks, no taking it off to clean your genitals.

Plastic gets pretty gross in term of cleaning: totally can clean it but it takes more time and effort in my opinion. Metal is just wayyy more comfy and easier to clean for long term wear for me, the weight isn’t an issue if you are buying good quality. Each device sets on there and pulls differently. The metal pulling as you describe is a function of the device having only one base ring or a narrow base ring. If the base ring is two or three steel rings or a tube like Evotion wearables, the device doesn’t tend to sag down the cock and balls as much. It’s all about proper fitting!

on cleaning: takes me at least 30 minutes to clean both my genitals and the plastic itself in a tight fitting cb6000; takes like 2 extra shower minutes in steel, and sooner or later, I always get chaffing in the plastic, very rare in steel.

what if you’re locked for months???

    good luck!

I agree that metal is much easier to clean and just more hygienic (trapped pee) than plastic. I have to add that the first time I saw myself in my jailbird there was a huge psychological element to it as well. Most plastic cages look like a penis. It's almost like a penis suit of armor. The metal is a cage. There is a big mental difference for me when putting my penis in a cage.

That being said, whatever works best for you is what you should do. If you're more comfortable with the plastic, run with it.

I agree with the metal much easier to keep clean. Also feeling horny and intensity level is less in the metal, still happens but in the plastic I believe the plastic covered you more and trapped heat in. On plastic I was much more horny and it would feel nice and warm like I was in Mistress but could do nothing about it

Ever since I found the CherryKeeper I much prefer plastic over the metal Jailbird I had. Less weight and just as comfortable.

Wear what you want to wear. You're the one wearing it. We all have our own opinions. They don't matter. It will take time to get used to wearing a chastity device. Choose wisely and enjoy the adventure.

I prefer the look and feel and better hygiene I've generally had with a metal cage. That said, I bought a HolyTrainer v3 nano last year and found it fit very well and was very comfortable to wear for a week and not nearly as difficult to keep clean as I had thought it would be.

But it turns out my wife really likes the look of a metal cage with a padlock, and so that's what I've been in for the last three weeks and will presumably be in for many more.
