Hi all. I did search and read a bit I’m just a bit nervous overall. Never was a procedure or surgery type person but the queen wants me to get one and it seems I shall.

most of what I read online seems like it’s a quick procedure and about 2 week recovery. The sites all seem to glow about things and not much behind the scenes.

has anyone lost any sex drive? Or not had the same desires after? Just curious bc my drive has always been through the roof (part of why chastity can be fun for us). Just kind of looking for personal input instead of websites that are affiliated with urologists

No change in sex drive. Some pain after the pain meds wear off (stay ahead of it). By the next day I felt decent.

When they tell you to take it easy for X amount of time, listen. I felt fine after a couple of days or maybe a week (it was quite a while ago) and went jogging. Big mistake. No pain, but one testicle swelled up and needed to be drained (ultrasound, needles and squeezing).

I really didn't get that much pain, I just rotated ibuprofen and paracetamol every 3 or 4 hours like they suggested for a few days it was fine

The peas are a good idea. But no, a vascectomy doesn't change anything at all. Doesn't change anything about the way you work, doesn't change the look, quantity, or taste off your ejaculate. Doesn't change your drive. Absolutely nothing. And the plus side is huge. No worry about birth control.

I genuinely appreciate all the responses. Is a bit daunting to think about for me personally but it’s re assuring hearing your experiences. I weight lift and enjoy my drive. Knowing the lack of physical change is really helping me mentally with this.

Had it done years ago, very little pain and no change in sex drive. I have thought that since then the scrotum has been tighter which I like. Anybody else found this?

The widely stated rate of complications isn't entirely accurate. It is still a relatively safe procedure with a low rate of complications, but most published stats tend to say under 1%, when in reality I've gotten the impression it is more like 5-10%, but depends on what we mean by "complications". For example, on average I experience 1-3 days each month of discomfort due to swelling of my epididymus on one testicle or the other. This occurs because the sperm are trapped. Some guys experience blowout where the epididymus gets to the point where it ruptures, then you get sperm granuloma in your scrotum.

Sex drive doesn't tend to change, but 2 phenomenon changed after my vasectomy:

    1. My ejaculations used to shoot with significant force, and I was always kind of proud of this. From my very first post-vasectomy ejaculation, this shooting no longer occurred... it mostly just blops out now like I see from most men in porn, etc. This was really dissappointing for me. Again, probably not a typical issue for most men.

    2. I ejaculate much, much easier now. This means, on one hand I now suffer from premature ejaculation... which really, REALLY fucking sucks sometimes. However, it also means I can now ejaculate simply from prostate stimulation or even just mental (under specific conditions). So maybe that would be seen as an overall plus for some folks.

I experienced granulomas, little benign hard lumps. Tended to come and go, sometimes a little painful. These diminished with time and I haven't had any for several years. The snip had no effect on my sex drive. Up to the point I was long-term caged more than a decade ago, my ejaculations had been unaffected by the vasectomy.

Mine was about two years ago and didn’t affect my sex drive at all. It’s more freeing now to not have to worry about birth control, although it is kind of ironic that we started the whole chastity thing right after I had it done so even though I can orgasm without worry I’m not allowed to orgasm anymore.
Recovery was easy, just need lots of frozen peas and the ability to stay off your feet as needed for a couple days. The only issue I had was my left one didn’t go numb as quickly as it should have and I didn’t find out until the scalpel hit but that was just really bad luck. The doc just squirted lidocaine all over it and I was good to go.

Oh, I should have mentioned more detail in my previous post: the suspected invalidity of the widely stated complication rate is because most men, particularly in previous decades when this data was collected, don't like to take these sort of things to doctors. Plus, there is ambiguity on how you define complication... if I go to my doctor and complain about recurring periodic pain, and she tells me to take an OTC NSAID for the inflammation and swelling, and the problem remains as is and I don't bring it up again, is that a "complication"? And this is for the men who would actually bring it up in the first place.

If you look into doctors that treat PVPS, they give that 5-10% figure based on what they see in their practices. Obviously they're smart enough to consider more than just their patients too, otherwise it would be 100%, but I admit their figure may have upward bias as well. Perhaps the truth is more like 2-3%... but I am certain it is well above the <1% oft stated.

Perhaps, all true. I do remember I had some internal bleeding (embolism?) after mine which did make it painful for a bit longer. But still, it got better with no ill effects. Not just that I was used to things and didn't complain. I actually talked to my regular doctor about the embolism and in a moment of honesty he said, "Hmmm. The <doctor> mustn't be that experienced. That should never happen. This is the simplest most straightforward procedure there is". But even then, it wasn't an issue.

one of the best things I’ve done & no longer worrying about birth control is liberating

initially surprised by the black & blue swelling (but no real pain, just discomfort) for a few days, then back to normal soon enough

Had mine done 20 years ago at 31 after the birth of our fourth baby. No affect on anything in a negative way at all.
The only bad experiences I’ve ever heard about from others who had them, was when they tried to hit the gym the day after or played some sport within a day or two. I sat on the couch with an ice pack for a few days and then good to go.
Also, make sure you follow up with a sample, I guess there’s plenty of idiots who do the surgery and then don’t actually make sure they’re sperm free and have a “ooops” pregnancy :)

Though I never had a vasectomy, I would imagine that sex drive and desire for anything sexual would decline until the pain subsides. That seems to be the case with pretty much any surgery.

    No and no.
No pain either after you’re healed up.
Wait a while before you wear a ball trap.
    You’ll know when.

Zero possible impact to your own libido.
I was assured by two doctors that getting my vas snipped and clipped would have no negative impact. And I was explicit about my wife’s preference to keep me in arousal, but kept from forceful ejaculations, or experiencing orgasms that left me in a refractory period. I tried to describe long term tease and denial in professional terms.

I was not concerned about my libido.
I was earnestly concerned about unrelenting pain from being teased. I didn’t want my testicles to suffer a blow out. I did not want to start cringing at my wife’s touch.

I was open about my wife’s stated desire to have a vasectomy, and continue to prevent my ejaculations afterwards.

Fuck. I am stirring just thinking about it.

I was 100% supported. I was assured my procedure would not interrupt my libido. Teasing would still be fun. I was assured my testicles would not burst from overpressure, or start casing me pain from arousal.

You do not need to worry about a vasectomy affecting your level of arousal.

You can talk with a urologist directly. But I understand why you’d ask the rest of us to get real life accounts from those with skin in the game… beyond professional opinions.

    Hahaha
    The sample cup!!!
When they handed it to me before I left the office. The nurse said to bring it back in a week and at the last second says no saliva. I had a chuckle at that.

The only possible effect it can have on libido and I was warned about this in the documentation is psychological if you go down a dark path of thinking you are no longer a full functioning virile male etc etc but I managed to avoid that and I think most people do.

I had mine 3 years ago, minimal pain during the procedure. Spent the weekend afterwards mostly sitting down and taking it easy and the post surgery ache was there but nothing unbearable. The ache was completley gone after 2 weeks.
I did however end up with hematospermia (blood in ejaculate) which would vary from minimal if ejaculations were frequent, to a very pink colour if it had been more than a week. Was very obvious to see during the 'clearing out the pipes' stage before the final sample to make sure it had worked. Back to Doctors and told that it would likley clear itself up, which it did after about 4 months.
No negative effect on libido, if anything it increased knowing I didn't have to care about contraception any more.
