It's interesting. There is this idea that people are ultimately responsible for the situations they put themselves in. So the non-consenting cuckold picked a partner who would cuckold him. The guy with the really weird anti-sexual wife who keeps him non-consensually chaste picked her in the first place. And so on.

 

Anyone locked non-consensually is in a weird type of bdsm relationship. I simply do not believe the stories about wealthy men who get caught cheating with a mistress, so their wives keep them locked as an alternative to divorce.

Also, the term "cuckold" refers to a husband with a cheating wife. The term fell out of usage ages ago, but was picked up by the community of those who shared a kink for "consensual" cheating. Chastity came along later; it wasn't until the mid 00s that inexpensive devices really hit the market. The cuck community adopted the idea. Similarly, the bdsm community saw an uptick in usage.

The problem is that they are still niche communities; how many "vanilla" couples have tried this? I'm thinking that with the introduction of $20 cages, a lot of people may have tried it, and now they are sitting in the back of the sock drawer.

Nobody is writing "chastity device" on a customs form.

 

Someone wrote about using number of members of CM as a kind of approximation. One data point on that is: I just put a story up in the library (BTW, please send feedback!). Surely only a small percentage of the market. There are loads of sellers out there and tons of designs. What if there had been 100,000 devices in the US alone. Not a huge leap of the imagination if the average number per person is 2 but only half of the 100,000 owned more than one. Which indicates more than a passing interest. That would be about 50,000 in chastity regularly. Does that sound reasonable? Improbable?

It has to be reasonable to assume that anyone who does chastity seriously (which is the population we're trying to determine), must have bought at least 5 if not 10 devices, as you go through the different materials, sizes and shapes to get to a cage that fits and is wearable for longer periods.

 

I can’t bring myself to care about this. At least not beyond the amount required for bespoke manufacturers to keep building the devices that work for me.
