Buying custom from Badassworkshop

The guy at BAW was very apologetic of the delay but he said he did have a lot of orders.

If anyone is interested in my BA28, which I can't wear, I'm willing to sell it. See above for specs/pic. $175 obo.

 

Anyone had any experience with their cheaper "semi-custom" line?

While I'm waiting for my Steelheart I was wondering if getting a custom sized cheaper option was worth a punt?

 

It's pretty much the same stuff you would buy on eBay/Amazon. The "custom" portion is the ring diameter and maybe the gap via them grinding and polishing. They don't customize the cage whatsoever.

 

Yeah he was apologetic to me also. I emailed and used the message function on his site. I eventually went to Etsy and messaged there and he responded right back and indeed did say he’s been very busy with working. I’m pretty sure his business has really amped up since he seems to out a good product. I ordered a titanium BA-25 and he told me it would ship in a month.

 

Yes, same here. Estimated build time is one month. The word is out that he makes good stuff. Aided by favourable comments from Thumper on his Twitter page, he has a big following in the chastity community.

 

Welp I received it and he made a mistake on my order. I wanted the security screw lock on both pq and actual lock. He gave me the lock cylinder instead and didn't do the flared base pa I asked for. I sent him a message. I have yet to measure it since I was excited and put it as soon as I got home. Gonna take it off In a few and check, gotta let the misses see it on first. Ha. I will say tho it is of high quality. Pictures uploaded in my photos if you want to see lol

 

Fair doos Thanks, man. Looks like I will just wait for the Steelheart and then if that's not ideal, give the guy at BadAss a shout and see what he can do.

 

I got a response and was told my cage will ship next week and delay was due to increased orders and holiday. If this timeline comes true, it will be shipping 6 weeks from order. I just hope I measured right and it fits as good as I hope it will.

 

Even if it doesn't, you'll have a device that you can wear for a while and use that to discover what the measurements you actually need are...then order another one. At £250 notes it's a bit of a bastard to re-order, but it's not a bank account nuke

 

I went all out and ordered titanium so that re-up would be $400 now. But I agree with you that I will end up ordering another one because what other choice is there, really? What's a few dollars when compared with the prospect of not being able to lock up for my KH?

 

Hopefully in the future we can bring together a company that does 3D printed cages at an affordable rate (looking at you @JosieLynn Jewell ) and a company that can manufacture a direct replica of that 3d model into metal. i would trial and run with plastic all day before I jumped into a $400 metal cage and didn't know if I measured correctly.

 

In theory, my pieces can be 3D printed in metal - I even have a few in stainless steel already. The problem is that the "affordable" process leads to a sub-par result as far as accuracy goes, and is not something I would put in the hands of a customer straight out of the printer.

One thing to note also - even given identical accuracy, the fit between Nylon and any sort of metal is going to be different. Think about how flexible Nylon is - if has give - in the lock body, and in the base ring. Now think about how flexible 8mm Stainless Steel is... that fit tightens us and doesn't give

 

Mine should arrive in a week. He’d told me 20 days build when I last checked in, but he’s built and shipped in about half that estimate. Can’t wait to get it. Even though I’ve got several custom devices already from other makers that are very good, the scrotum bar on the BAW device is a new innovation that I’ve not seen before, and that’s the key feature I’m looking forward to, to deal with the occasional ball escapee.

 

Can we see pics when it arrives? I will probably order something from these guys after all I've seen but I'd love to see the scorotum bar thing actually being worn. I have a highish sack so seeing it on someone before I buy one would be brilliant.

 

Glad to hear BAW is doing well. I ordered a custom cage from them awhile back and was very happy with the value. Not the most perfectly made or polished cage, but measurements were good, design was good, and it shipped super fast. Now that I know the shop is busier I will order my next one from them in advance. (Waiting on fresh PA to heal,)

 

I have to disagree here. They do whatever you tell them, length, diameter, ring diameter/shape, bar density, gap, bend, you name it. I've purchased two (shrinking seems to be a thing) and they were spot on.

 

I REPLY emailed this morning early my actual order that was placed Feb 23 asking the status and approximate time before shipping (it has been 3 weeks) and I paid extra for expedited shipping because I leave the 1st week of April and won't return till mid June the reply "they are working on it and it will be another 20-30 days till it ships

 

Yes, fully customisable from his range of designs. He’ll even work from a drawing you send him, which makes him pretty much the MOST customisable shop around. @filltee i think I recall you looking for someone to do a full custom build, this could be the answer.

After a few days of wear, while very effective, the scrotum bar is probably more than the skin on my scrotum can handle, the pressure it puts on the skin may be too much for extended wear. Not a fault of the design. I’ve got another solution in mind, I may get BAW to do a one off job on a cage piece.

 

For full custom cages you are correct. For their premade ones (semi custom) which is what @Darkhorse.SJ was asking about, their "customization" is limited, hence the big difference in price.

I finally received my new titanium BA-01 and have been wearing it for a week now. I just put immediately when I received it, locked it up, and haven't taken it off once yet. So lightweight and so comfortable. Build and finish quality is perfect.

 

@LockedTower How secure is the security screw? Can you really not remove it without the included "key"? T
