Been in a Bijou most of the last 3 years. I believe this also applies to the Orion.
One unavoidable problem is the lock placement and its encounter with urine. Type of piercing does not matter even non-pierced.
Our solution is a supervised "lock only removal" for good cleaning then some olive oil on a regular basis.
Otherwise it will corrode and lock up permanently :-(

hrmmzzz… I’ve got an Orion on 24/7 for the past month, I don’t think I’ve had an issue with the lock seizing? Now I’m worried and haven’t tried it. Are you using the olive oil as a lubricant for the lock?

to stay clean, I need to shower twice a day and I pay particular attention to keeping myself and the cage clean.

 

I use the olive oil to keep lock & inside of the cage lightly lubed, I believe it offers the lock some protection from acidic urine.

I read where folks use all types of oils but I stay with it because is does not come from petroleum. Been used for thousands of years in cosmetic applications and soaps.

 

Problem with olive, and many plant oils, is that they may harden or become gummy with age, which is the last thing you want in any lock; they can also go rancid. Usually locks are lubricated with graphite dust, but a very light machine oil (like sewing machine or "turbine" oil) will do when the lock is being kept warm.

 

There is also food grade silicone that works wonderful

 

Is this the lock for the glans portion of the cage (the one on the underside, rather than the one that connects the cage to the ring)? I've been thinking about an Orion, with a frenum piercing, so there wouldn't be a direct channel from my urethra to the lock.

 

I've had an Orion since they came out (literally bought it the *day* it showed up on the website - pure random chance!)

I've seen the corrosion problem with the glans lock, but honestly it took over 2 years for it to seize up. YMMV and I replaced with another barrel lock.

FWIW I cannot masturbate by jiggling it around (need a vibrator or other stimulation).

 

No way around it, the lock WILL get urine in it and slowly corrode. However, I have kept this one oiled and cleaned for about 3 years and it still works.

 

Agreed, only way is with a strong vibrator (Hitachi Wand) or internal prostate stimulation. Preferably both at the same time. I wore a Bijou for over two years and got my Orion a little over 6 weeks ago.... It rocks.
