Neither. Both of us prefer the discrete security screw. A lot smaller, less bulky, and the key didn't look like a key.

If we are talking trapped ball devices i find padlocks need to be secured to the cage to keep the noise down, barrel locks i find area lot better as you can also modify them to use a anti tamper wire seal for back up security. Security screw works very well i use both the barrel lock and security screw on my devices both work very well

Is this something which is standard or do you have to modify the cage?

It was an option with the Mature Metal cage. The hole is threaded and can accept a screw or a padlock.

In my opinion padlocks get in the way, the lady of the house doesn't like the sharp edges digging into her and they have a horrible bulge on your clothing. However, as a symbol of chastity, the padlock wins.

I like the symbology aspect, but also like the clean lines of a barrel lock or screw. The screw gives tge appearance of the cage being permanent.

Fill the barrel lock with glue and throw the key away. That'll give the appearance of permanency

There is one little advantage of a padlock.
They're much easier to destroy than an integrated lock, without risk of damage to the cage or yourself if you have an emergency and need to get released without access to the key.
Knowing that, we don't use an emergency key; When my wife is on a trip away my only means of escape would be to destroy the padlock.

Barrel lock works best for me. Makes the cage easier to put on and less snags on panties or tights.

Definately better with panties, no unsightly bulges. A padlock can make it look like he has a bag of spanners diwn there.

Yes, once you embrace being small, in panties, you want the cage to help more than hurt.

unless its a hinged ring that can close, cant u just pull off the ring entirely? If u can get the ring around your ball sack, then it can be pulled off without unlocking

My keyholding wife prefers a padlock because she likes teasing me by playing with it...I agree the barrel locks make for a cleaner look and the screw type basically eliminates any bulkiness.

That's not how it works. The gap between the ring and the tube is too small for the balls to fit through once locked

The barrel locks are very, very easy to pick. So are many padlocks, especially the "fancy" heart shaped ones. I prefer a good padlock, such as Master or Abus. Yes, they are a little more bulky, but my Mistress likes the symbology.

Never used the security screw type. You can buy sets of security screw screwdriver bits online, and at some good hardware stores, so again, not difficult to defeat.

I use a small bluetooth lock to secure my keys in a plastic tube. Easy to access the keys in an emergency, and easy for my Mistress verify that they have not been tampered with. She can control the lock with a phone app. Works very well.

The security screw used by Mature Metal, and possible others is NOT a standard security screw. It is custom made to fit the screws and the best I can describe is an irregular hex or heptagon with a hole similar to the security Torx to locate the pin, which gets in the way of a screwdriver blade.

My Mistress uses the barrel lock at this time but also like a good pad lock. Since Mistress has total say in the cages that Mistress property wear. Slave doesn't have a say in the matter.

We have both. She, prefers the padlock. It is easier to insert and to lock. The barrel lock can be a bit fiddly.

The “click” of a padlock is her favorite sound.

The tarnish and wear on the brass body of the padlock, shows the seriousness of her resolve.

She likes the visual aspect of the padlock. It is not hidden. She often checks it with a little tug.

I am not locked for very long periods, but when I am I like to be secure. My wife and keyholder would not like it at all if she thought i could escape.

This is one of the reasons I don't like padlocks on cage type devices. I know I could just go to the workshop and be out in a few minutes. Of course a padlock on a full belt is a different matter. A sturdy belt with a good quality padlock with a shrouded shackle would be very difficult to get out of. When I am locked like that it's very real. I'm her's and it feels great. Unfortunately I've put on a few pounds thanks to Covid so its rather tight now!

I agree, barrel locks as supplied are very easy to pick. My solution is quoted below. I doubt if it makes picking impossible, but I have not managed it so far.

We prefer the barrel style for practicality, but I think she preferred the actual padlock for ease of use and the look of an actual lock.

Padlocks are simple to operate. Key goes in bottom, the hasp allows it to move to see where key slot is, and putting it back on is just a matter of putting it through the hole. She was not a fan of the bulky and sharp thing that pressed into her.

My custom device used a barrel lock, and having that, I could then have a custom key pendant made. Now she can wear her key and still have it look beautiful. My particular device has the exposed portion of the barrel lock pointing down, so when locked, the base ring covers it. Besides maybe drilling (ouch and no way I would risk it slipping off), breaking out of it would be daunting. Maybe pick it, but again, it’s not exactly something I could see or get at easily.

I do miss the simplicity of our first lock which was a padlock. She was much more involved in removing and putting my cage back on with the padlock.
