So I had an incident where my KH (@Destiny103181) let me unlock to groom. The key wasn't working, no matter what I did, jiggled it, snuck up on it, I even sprayed WD-40 in the mech.....Nothing....Then this:

    broken 1.jpg

I couldn't believe it broke, the key actually broke!!!!

After several frantic moments, I decided to give my Dremel a try. It was better than nothing right.....I wrapped myself in a towel the best I could and wore a glove and guess what?? It worked!!!

    broken 2.jpg

The thing cut threw it like a stick of butter!!! Moral of the story is there is always a way!!!

I do have a better lock on now, just so you know!!

The Dremel is a wonderful piece of kit for many applications, but I’m not sure they imagined it being used to free up anyone’s private parts when creating it ;)

Dremel with cut-off wheel can cut through quite a bit and cut open a padlock without any problems.

The tool has also saved my "life" a few times, well not life but my nerves :)

I’ve had Drexel’s for decades. They are amazing tools. I’ve also used them to cut several locks for various reasons.

It’s scary cutting a cage lock off with one. But as OP said a towel or other similar protection helps.

Also ALWAYS wear eye protection when using one. Ear protection is also highly recommended.

Dremel does all. Not sure how I'd get the Orion off without also cutting my dick in half in the process but with enough gin I'm sure there's a way. Eventually. Maybe.

Those locks need to be exercised now and then as their aluminum bodies corrode fairly rapidly in that environment. At the very least, give it a shot of something like WD-40 or Boeshield once a month, and spending a few nickels more for the brass bodied locks is a worthy upgrade. The relatively new aluminum bodied locks with plastic shells are fine for dry uses like diaries and jewelry boxes, but they're not suitable for getting wet in the shower every day.

Also, unless there's just no room, a pair of screwdrivers in the shackle will pry and pop one of those locks easily, with no power tools needed.

So, answer truthfully. Just how hard did you get when that key snapped? ;-p

The mighty dremel! So many uses. And I agree with cocklocker about the lock care, I had been using one lock for quite a while and I could see it was corroded, then when madam tried unlocking me it had ceased up totally! I had to cut it off and replace it.

Yeah, I realize that now, I will definitely pay more attention to lock "health" now.

I was going to try to pry it open but there is so little space, I don't think it would work.

Since I wear plastic CK's, I always figured I'd sacrifice a cage if need be. Less heat generated perhaps. Less chance to cut myself. I plan to use a side cutter if the need ever arises.

I used to not take this seriously. About 15 years ago, I was Dremeling steel, and somehow transferred a tiny filing to the surface of my eye. I noticed nothing, but the next day there was some soreness. By the time I got home to check in a mirror, there was a brown spot, because, as I learned later, the steel had rusted, dissolved and been absorbed by the cornea. I thought it would go away, then I thought I could scape it off, but a couple days later, the brown spot sat atop a white, tender-looking bump, and I was convinced to take it to the hospital. They gave me a talking-to, because the cornea's reaction to such an offense results in local softening, and had I delayed much longer, it could have ruptured.

It’s a high speed power tool that has cutting, drilling, and grinding bits.

Yeah, I had eye protection for sure.

And those saying they wouldn't get a dremel anywhere near their cock, I guarantee that is how it would have been cut off at the ER, but add tons of embarrassment.

I took great care to make sure everything was protected and went slow, trust me, I'm not an idiot.

Bottom line, take care of those locks!!!

A ring cutter would do the job and also a lot safer.

I used my dremel quite a bit on my cheap cage that I wore while waiting for my custom one. Buffed out so me rough spots, polished everything. I also used it while making her key pendant.

I have since moved on with a professional key pendant being made, and current cage needs no buffing or grinding, but it was a great tool for what I needed. In my cheap cage I accidentally ruined a lock once. I was rounding to for the edges, and the lock just rattled apart once the thin layer of brass was removed. Side note…do not grind the long flat edge of the magic locker, it will fall apart lol.

I am wearing Cherry Keeper cages now. I always knew I could cut through the narrow strip of material that joins the cage to the ring.

Well the worst case happened one day when I wanted to unlock for cleaning. My wife could not remember where she put the key. After a little while I decided to just find out how well the Dremel would work. I had spare cage and ring parts lying around because I was experimenting with the various CK cages, so I wasn't worried about being uncaged.

Long story short, I learned that the Dremel must be used at a low speed to cut the filament material. I ended up with a small burn spot on my penis where molten bits had settled while I cut! No lasting damage but a lesson learned for sure!

I'd wager that more home workshops already have a Dremel than a ring cutter, and that most of the people who don't have a Dremel would have a better idea where to get one, than where to find a ring cutter. Also, a ring cutter is human powered like a small can opener. It would be insanely slow to get one to cut through a lock shackle, if the teeth are even able to cut hardened steel.
