It's silicone. So not soft, per se, but not "hard plastic" either. I have one. I use it airport travel and some sports.

If a collar might symbolize submission or ownership or belonging, in a private setting, a necklace might do the same in a public setting, just as a wedding band speaks to the observer as much as the wearer.
