Does anyone know how to re-weld or soldier a stainless device. I need a smaller gap and to do that i need to cut off the part on the tube and re-attached it farther back on the tube to reduce the gap. ideal gap for me is .200 inch.

Would a jeweler have the right equipment? Any other suggestions.

i considered using epoxy but i doubt it is as strong as a metal weld or soldier.

    thanks for your thoughts

You need a WIG welder, you can find in a metal workshop.
If they build stainless steel handrails for stairs, for example, or boat equipment (and it looks good), you've come to the right place.
Your problem should be solved quickly, for a few coins in the coffee fund.

I know Mark at MaleChastityNow uses a TiG welder. He also uses a method you didn’t mention: brazing. That method is used in jewelry making.

DIY epoxy looks like crap to me. I’ve tried a two part epoxy once on a broken cheap cage, and it wasn’t strong (if broke again) and looked bad. But maybe I’m just not handy.

TiG welding is difficult to do for thin materials. Brazing allows the thinner pieces to be solidly joined. A jewelry maker might be able to do that.

Mark uses polishing and brazing to adapt premade cages to a semi-custom job to offer a custom base ring to get the right gap and diameter. I think he learned jewelry making first (brazing) before welding. This based on my poor memory of 2009. I wore his intense Kali’s Teeth Bracelet (KTB) which brazed lock posts to thin bendable metal.

Thanks everyone for input. I believe I will try to find a jewelry repair shop that could maybe apply the right kind of proper braze or weld. . First I will get it pulled apart and modified to the correct dimensions. I might try some gorillaweld two part metal to metal epoxy first because I ban always grind it away prior to jeweler work it it breaks. If I find the tight jeweler I could start there as well. Thanks again

JB Weld is strong stuff as long as it is holding a mechanical joint together, or packed into a lock cylinder. (Who's up for some permanent chastity?) It won't last very long to just butt two pieces together. You'd need to cut the needed length out of the center of the bar and sleeve the two pieces with a snug-fitting tube, but if the desired length is only 0.2" there's just not enough material to do this.

TIG or brazing is definitely the way to go. If you don't mind perhaps needing to explain the item to curious people, places like bicycle repair shops, auto muffler and exhaust shops and body shops do a lot of TIG welding.

i bought some Gorilla Weld - new metal on metal epoxy. my plan is to rough up the joined area and try it first on a second choice metal tube (not my CB3000 cast stainless tube which is #1). i have no problem taking it to a shop and explaining it is an item of personal jewelry. Years ago I would have been afraid or embarrased - but at this stage of experience, and given the benefits to our relationship, and the genuine wholesomeness of male chastity device usage in a relationship, "it is what it is" and if they figure it out then so be it. i will just go to a bike shop that is a little bit "out of the area", but first i will give the epoxy a try as soon as my new stainless ring comes in. I want to use the new simple ring because it is the perfect match to my CB3000 setup which is a perfect fit and making adjustments is not easy with welding. I also plan to file away some of the ring attachment brackets to create more space for more epoxy on the side of the attachment piece.

@SMS529 please if you cant do your cage proper then if you send it to Etsy they can do anything to them. Mistress send a bit of my cages and got the rings done to fit me.

I’d be careful about just asking random jewellers if they would weld a cock cage, as others have said there are people on Etsy who specialise in this kind of work.

it can also be done with a MIG welder, but you have to use the correct wire and 100% argon as the shielding gas. That said, TIG welding will produce more attractive results.

TiG or brazing rod are your only real options for stainless.
A custom stainless jewelry artist could do your repair (and probably not ask too many embarrassing questions).

I've tried brazing with no luck. My torch didn't get hot enough. I'm going to be buying a mig welder for other projects as well but I'm only looking to tack weld so nothing crazy.

Don't try with flux core mig wire! Without a gas jacket you will get nothing but globs and holes on stainless.

This will be one of my next projects. I’m going to be welding up a stainless exhaust system for my motorcycle project and may try to modify a ring while I’m at it. 50mm is a bit too large, and 45mm is too small. I’ll try to take a bit out of the larger ring. I am concerned about the quality of the casting the ring is made out of. It is likely to be porous and full of impurities which will make it very hard to weld.

I’ll let you know how it goes.

That's disappointing. Guess I'm going to make my belt without welds then.

I have welded mine with synergic mig. I used stainless welding wire with basic mixture welding gas. It makes welds dark, but you can't see difference after grinding and buffing

I made ring smaller, added bars, combined different parts from various devices. Much work finding suitable with no real success.
