It was put together by two sex researchers who realized that people are really never honest when they are taking surveys/questionnaires/interviews about sex, and in particular, kinky sex. So, they gathered sex-based search history data from the internet and did their analysis on that, and tied it together with psychological studies that try to explain the findings. It was an awesome read for me (a sex nerd).
