Agreed-the real reason that "permanent" lock up in a chastity device is NOT feasible is this: When you unexpectedly need medical care, as all of us will at some point in our lives, it will be a distraction and embarrassment at best, and delay in getting care at worst.

I will clarify Jessica's hygiene comment: While stainless steel cages might be able to be kept hygienic, the hard plastic ones are not, in my experience. I wear an Evotion Bijou, anchored by a frenum piercing. If I don't remove it for a thorough cleaning at least weekly, the smell becomes noticeable. And that is despite showering daily, with specific attention to lathering the cage and balls.

 

I was able to wear my 316L stainless GlansArmor2 for three months between unlocks. I was able to keep clean.

My skin was fine. A dermatologist inspected my uncaged penis a few weeks after I was freed. No problems.

I’ve had similar experiences with plastic. I just can’t wear it without regular removal for cleaning.

My wife was teasing me with ideas of keeping me in my GlansArmor2 indefinitely... permanently. But she’s relented and we swap cages every few weeks just to give it a nice soak and make it shiny and clean.

 

It depends on the device. I've just hit the 3 month mark sealed into this device.

I've no expectation of having to remove it, except for an emergency. Washing and drying are fine, and the surgical nylon doesn't pick up an odour, because surgical.

As for the point about emergencies.

First of all, most possible emergencies in which wearing a device would be a problem are also the kind that render you unconscious, or take place outside the home and incapacitate you. So if you run into trouble when locked, you're probably not going to be able to access the key to unlock anyway. With the exception of @Minas bitch's hell device - titanium! - a few snips with a real bolt cutter will get them off... and nobody's putting you in a CAT scan machine without first running a metal detector over you.

Second, in my case the device has no metallic parts. I suppose if I were stabbed in the groin, it might cause a problem. Otherwise, the worse I'd suffer would be embarrassment... and being nylon, it should snip off easily enough in extremis.

It is certainly hard to know for sure. However, it is amazing what people get up, and what's technical feasible.

 

That stuff is nasty, nitromethane. I wouldnt want it anywhere near my balls. If you do use it dont breath the fumes. Its about as flammable as it gets so yeah..... It's worth reading the data sheet.

Agreed. Nitromethane is intended for commercial use by professionals. It's SO flammable that it could almost be considered an explosive.
