Ours is a little different from others. I have the key readily available for my use. I usually remove my cage every morning before showering. I put the cage back on after drying off and leave the key on the counter.

    thank you!

My current cage only consists of a urethral tube held in place by a bar.
It's very hygienic because all is exposed.
i need to clan the inside of the tube which I generally do every fortnight using a pipe cleaner soaked in some diluted tea tree oil.
You have to be careful how much of the pipe cleaner you insert.
I normally I drink a lot of water prior to cleaning it so that I can flush it with pee straight after.

Have you really thought this through?
There are two sides to the urethral tube, the inside and the outside.
The inside doesn't touch your flesh, and is constantly flushed through every time you pee - that's the part you're cleaning.
The outside is in contact with your urethra. There will be some wetting and drying between the tube and your urethra, and trapping of urine, dead skin cells and other contaminants at least at the ends if not the whole length, but this part you never clean?

Yes that is the part I cant get to. It does get naturally flushed though and I can flush it if I press the end of the tube with my finger while peeing so that urine is forced to flow around it.
When it's removed at the end of a lock up, the outside of the tube is shiny and smooth as it was when it went in. The inside however tends to get grubby which is evident during cleaning. There can be a build up of deposits there after a while. Perhaps because it is exposed to the air?

I started using the shave brush method and it's worked out really well for daily use between weekly deep cleanings. I use a small amount of facial cleanser since I know that works well with my sensitive skin, then lather up the brush and go to work. Removing the cage after a week didn't look any dirtier than it does after a day, so I'll call it a success!

I also sometimes use my wife's hairdryer to make sure everything is dry. That seems to make things stay cleaner for longer.

I had a Mature Metal Queen's Keep. I found that cotton swabs were helpful for getting in between the bars to swab out dead skin, sweat, etc. Even with an open bar design, you would be surprised how nasty the inside can get.

I went thru the hassle of cleaning by removal, even though I have a stainless steel open design. I couldn't seem to stretch the time past a week or so, despite daily showering.

This is not what I wanted. I would rather that I never have to take it off, except TSA. So I tried a few different things.

This is my most successful formula, and am currently using it.

In the shower, Solo cup, liquid soap, hot water, peroxide.

Put liquid soap in the cup. Add hot water and swish the soap up. Pour some peroxide in the cup and swirl around to mix , not quite half full total. Just a couple ounces of peroxide is ok. It's cheap anyway.

Drop your junk into the cup. With it pressed up against your public area, thrust back and forth in the cup, but don't lose your seal so the stuff stays in the cup.

The soap and peroxide get all in the cracks and crevices of you and the cage. You have to figure out how many thrusts it will take. I do it for a minute maybe.

I will also pull my cage forward so I am letting the solution get everywhere. I also pull forward and dump the cup out on it when I am done.

Seems to help avoid the stink, and haven't any rashes. I haven't taken off my cage this year. I have no plans to anytime soon unless something seems wrong. Just when it is shaving time, I have to take it off.

Alternately, if your like me, you don't have to use a solo cup because a shot glass is plenty big enough.

My sub-hubby is locked 24/7 in an open wire metal mini cage. He keeps very clean by using regular soap and a shaving brush, scrubbing well around the bars of his cage, followed by a strong rinse with spray attachment in our shower.

About once every 2 weeks I unlock his cage for a deep cleaning which I do myself, he must keep his hands behind his back and is not allowed to touch. But his base ring is permanent and stays in place, it has not been removed in over a year.

My current cage is metal PA-5000, no unlocking for cleaning, no unlocking for any things :)

My wife doesn’t ever let me clean myself. We shower together every night so she combines a soapy teasing session with a slow clean while caged, including a very intense rinse with the hand held shower attachment, then once a week she allows me out for a very, very thorough clean and shave. It’s almost too much to bear!!

I do not allow PK to shower alone (or touch himself) either. We shower together every morning, however being a bit of a germaphobe, I remove the device to make sure all those nooks and crannies are getting attention, plus he scrubs the device while I finish up. We towel off and I put it right back on. No more than 20 minutes tops and if I may be allowed to brag a bit, I have become very proficient at removing and installing my device. As @AlfaMan points out, it is a nice soapy teasing session too.
