I presume people have strong views on which is better, the exterior padlocks or the interior locking mechanisms. Thoughts? Which is more secure? Which do you like better?

Personally, internal lock. Easier to conceal and wear long-term.

Internal is preferred, no clanking around. easier on clothing and more comfortable say and night.

    Security to me is equal.

The only advantage an old fashioned padlock might have in my mind is the symbolism.

I agree with others who have posted above. My metal cage has an internal barrel lock which my wife/Mistress seems to prefer. I am in a very small mini-cage, and this fact combined with its internal lock makes it less visible under clothing.

But I suppose a padlock has its own charm if your KH happens to prefer it. After all, the decision should be up to her.

My had me inquire with mature metal about my new cage being able to have both the security screw and option to also have padlock also. They can do it as option cost.

She likes the symbolism of the padlock. The security screw has to be used as primary.

They can make my extra short cage length also. We are prepared to order after she decides next week if continuing the chastity program and same or separate beds.

Internal lock. It's more wearable, and I always found the padlock had a tendency to pinch skin in cage openings.

The internal lock always make it more discrete especially if you are wearing swimming trunks or running leggings etc. It is always difficult to hide a padlock and both are secure. IMG_8440.jpeg IMG_8438.jpeg

Internal is more comfortable padlock more locked:) as I am so small I have both using my PA. Even te internal has sharp edges so I tape it.
The padlock sharp edges have been removed.

On my cages that have exposed barrel lock edges. I have used small file to round and bevel edges smooth.

This prevents scratches, pinches and pokes. also saves panties from damage.

    Barrel locks still win.

One more vote for the integral lock.

My first cage had a padlock and i was ok with it except for occasional clinking. My other cages have a barrel lock which looks to me like a more streamlined design. I also found it easier to lock up than the one with a post and padlock. But i'm not wound up about one over the other.

My Wife seems to like the nostalgia of the padlock but freely admits the integral lock is far superior.

She prefers streamlined look on clothing as well.

Wife wants my upcoming order for jailbird to have security screw plus option to have padlock position added for both. Adds 1/4" to stud length.

It will become my primary cage for extended wear times.

I have both type of cages, one internal and one padlock. We both prefer the internal lock for different reasons. Mine is based on comfort and not having to cushion the padlock from clanging and sticking out. She likes the look better, streamlined and harder to remove with tools.

Been padlocked since we started chastity but Brexit delayed cherry keeper arriving Friday so hopefully it's the internal lock from now on

this has nothing to do with me or security but with my key holder, So I guess that’s the other side of the coin. my wife prefers to wear the Padlock key because it’s much smaller and not long like the barrel key. She thinks the barrel key attracts too much attention hanging around her neck. Actually when I think about it I don’t really like the look of the barrel lock key either. But it does do its job very well.

One thing that gets overlooked about the barrel lock is that the key and lock are widely available on places like Amazon. Easy to get a copy by buying another lock. Unique patterns on security screws are both secure and even more compact. Padlocks also tend to have more unique keys than barrel locks.

Also, agree with above comment that the key for barrel locks are less than feminine and look strange. Although any KH wearing one around her neck instantly publicizes the fact that her husband is in chastity as that would be the only reason to wear such a funny shaped key.

We prefer the internal locks because the total package has a smaller profile and is less prone to awkward noises. It is indeed true that a duplicate key can be easily obtained, unless one is using a security screw from a custom vendor, so we have to rely on the honor system to some extent.

I do not know why guys weawr tyhe running leggings they look quite silly to me bu teach to their own.

Most of the guys that wear them in the UK it seems prefer to wear shorts with them which would easily help conceal a cage. As for swimming trunks not so bad on younger guys I suppose but again they look silly on older guis which is why most of them it seems prefer to wear swimming shorts which again do or would easily conceal a cage.

Take a look at https://chastity-shop.com/ he makes beautifull keys for barrel locks, quite expensive but if your keyholder is wearing it all the time, I think it is worth it. I have just ordered one myself.

And I would also use a barrel lock any time.
