In this case, the story should simply be written by someone who is not the person in chastity.

 

I think it is more known about, but it isn't something a lot of people practice. The internet has done wonders!

 

There is definitely more exposure of the idea, beyond the usual 'Belts for Ladies of Knights in Crusades'. Not sure if it has reached level of being acceptable, or mainstream kink like BDSM, but there are more images and posts. Definitely helped by internet and easy access to the world.

Not sure if it’s mainstream yet, but it’s certainly growing. A few years back chastity devices didn’t have their own sections in online sex toy shops. If they had them at all it was sorted under BDSM. In the country where I live I can suddenly see it everywhere now.

 

Believe it has potential to gain more of the population.

 

it's certainly more recognised now than it was. Remember about fifteen years ago, online dating was considered something pretty freaky, that you didn't own up to. Now it's completely mainstream. So give it another ten years and people will be openly talking about chastity.

That is a real possibility many things evolve maybe even sooner.

 

That piece in the Guardian would have been better if it was written by a woman and explained the difference between a girlfriend and a girlfriend with keys and explained if she liked it or not and what it was like to have a boyfriend with a cage around his penis, and what were the benefits for the woman.
Since it was written by a man it would be seen as just something different men do to get a thrill and it would not be taken serious.
