Estimated Population in Chastity

Based on between 1 in 1,000 and 1 in 2,000, that would equate to around 20,000 in the UK, and around 1 million in the US.

I really don't think as many as 1 in 20 would be using one of those electronic devices.
I've always been interested in chastity, and have been doing it seriously for over five years now but I've never considered one, and I have rarely seen adverts for them, so I suspect that awareness and usage of them isn't half as high as these estimates.

Which would mean that far more men than the above figures are using chastity.
Given the popularity (which has been increasing year by year) of chastity devices generally on all the global auction websites, I do think the numbers are much higher, but like many other topics in the past, it's still not something that most people feel comfortable about going public with.

 

There are about 330 million people in the US, roughly 240 million 18 and over, more or less 50% male, leaving 120 million adult males. 1 in a thousand would be 12,000, not a million.

Yeah in my case my wifes approval is based on stopping my nasty masturbation.
And masturbation is not a topic of general conversation by journalists, between friends or even with my wife.
So I guess that sort of explains why chastity is not very public...

Most people's social circles number no more than 200, so you are statistically unlikely to know another wearer... though I suspect clustering.

I just had a double brainwave!

1. The Cellmate figures represent serious users.

2. Almost all of them will be using online mistresses - that's really the point of the device; remote keyholding.

If you google, roughly 1 in 10 men have used the services of a sex worker.

So, if you have 0.02% of the population using sex workers, you can plausibly multiply by 10 to find out how many similar men exist.

 

You know what. The QIUI cellmate which got hacked had about 40,000 users as we know.

Now, in this forum, in the Chastity Reviews subforum, there are only 6 threads with 26 posts about the Cellmate. This is only 0.000621% of the total post count in the Reviews subforum. Which would mean the total amount of chastity devices in use should be exactly 64,378,462 men (40,000/0.000621%)!

Take it with a big grain of salt of course, but nevertheless I don't see a reason why the Cellmate would necessarily be underrepresented in discussions here?

I think that it is funny that even on ebay they sell chastity devices like pullovers or computers ...

 

If you search on Youtube for "Male Chastity" and see the number of videos plus the number of views of those videos, you'll see millions have been made aware of it.

I'd guest that most humans are aware of it and that most of them are aware that it's more common than we're thinking, like maybe 10% practice it daily or more.

I bet they aren't you know! I'd be very surprised if that many know about male chastity at all. I don't even think the concept would even cross the minds of the majority out there. But bear in mind just how many people there are in the world even a relatively low percentage figure would still amount to lots of us chaste males! Even here in the UK, if just 1% of men were chaste that would amount to around 650000!

 

And yet, something like a quarter of couples do at least some kink.

 

I never realised it would be that many, but why not. It's all about fun after all!

It’s something I’ve always thought about and for sure there are more than we think there are.
Especially as some have already mentioned that the Chinese don’t jump in the production line unless there’s a good market for doing so.

Upthread, I estimated that Cellmate had 12K US users. It's - I think? - been around 3 years. So average yearly sales is 4K

We also know that Steelworx probably sell 2K a year.

Vice are less specialist than Cellmate, so say 8K a year (i.e. 48K sales over 7 years)

So yearly sales estimate for a given business (* indicates guess):

• Artisan: 1K*
• Hand made, fully commercial: 2K
• Production Line, Specialist: 4K
• Production Line, Standard: 8K
• Mass Market: 16K*

Total the business in each category, sum the lot, then multiply by 20, and that's a rough estimate of the number of current male chastity users in the USA.

However, I bet it will be 120K, the number of Cellmate users x 1/% of Men Who Use Sex Workers.

Yes, but only kinky persons buy a CB. This is the interesting fact. There are also guys here on chastitymansion who wear their CB only sometimes too.

 

I think we're mostly interested in the popularity of male chastity devices because we don't want to feel alone!

However, if male chastity becomes more common, it has implications for quality of devices (more sustainable industry, more invention), freedom of movement (no more remarkable than a piercing, on you go sir), dating (both sexes being able to state it as a preference), and easy of introduction to a vanilla relationship (already covered in vanilla magazines, sites, even TV programs, perhaps already present in social circle).

So, it would be good to know how many people have bought one, ever, because that would tell us how familiar the idea was. If you just knew how many men owned chastity devices, you could then divide by twenty to get a rough estimate of those who sometimes wore theirs 24/7.

You can do a similar calculation based on the 12K US Cellmate users:

12K Cellmate users, most of whom will be using an online mistress, and all of whom are serious users.

10% of men are comfortable hiring sex workers, so that means there 10 times as many serious users in the USA. This gives us:

12K x 10 = 120K serious users.

Pareto's Principle, based on the way statistics work, gives us the 80/20 rule - 80% of a phenomenon comes from 20% of the participants. That suggests there are 5 times as many chastity users as there are serious users:

120K x 5 = 600K chastity users.

We could guess the same again to get to Chastity Device Owners:

600K x 5 = 3,000K men in the USA at least own a chastity device.

Military age men in the USA = 60,000K

Therefore 3 in 60 adult US men at least own a chastity device, which gives us 5%...
