Shorter cage = less painful erections??

i would always suggest using the flaccid length when getting a tube to fit me, any longer and getting the penis to line up with the urnine slot is not a certainty and it can make things a little more messy during toilet breaks.

 

I've shortened up my cage a bit from my flaccid length and it's been great

 

On length, Take a ruler and measure under and at the base of the penis where it meets the testicles and measure to the tip of the penis. Again soft not shriveled. Then take your shortest measurement and subtract 1/4″.

That is a copy and paste from Mature metals site. Thats what I used for my Jailbird and got a perfect fit.
I bought a couple of the cheap devices using roughly the same measurements and they work
I tried to go a little shorter I found after a day or two I was getting groin pains.

I know a lot of guys on here have gone a for cages a lot smaller than fliccid.
I have said before it really is not one size fits all.
Personally I would not risk injury or my health for aesthetic purposes.

In the end its all a matter of personal choice but ideally you want to end up with something that is both reasonably comfortable to be worn for as long as your keyholder requires and most importantly it prevents access to the penis for self pleasure. frustration doesnt need to involve pain unless that is what the keyholders aim is.

 

For me, as short as possible. See my pics. With the proper size base ring, going very short really controls erections and is secure, there's no room for fiddling.

 

I have only short cages. The very shortest one, while comfortable and I like the look, is so short that when I sit to pee I can't help but dribble on my sack. That can't be avoided, so one that is just a little longer avoids that problem and also prevents it from getting hard.

 

Your question is about erections so first I will state my opinion on that...yes it makes erections almost impossible to achieve so yes less painful.

With the super short cages other issues can appear. Having it all squished in there can lead to lack of drying and adema. Peeing also becomes more of a spray and dribble, which doesn’t help, and removal for visual “dick check” is advised.

If getting a short cage I would advise that it be large diameter so you have room to clean and let dry, the gap isn’t too tight so balls aren’t pressed into bottom of cage, and you can line up peeing without effort.

I usually suggest buying some cheap cages of different sizes and see which ones suit u best.

 

Just to throw my hat in there in the "no one size fits all" realm. I have a super short cage, and it doesn't do one thing to stop erections - the whole cage and ring arangement just gets pushed away from my body and I "back fill" it. During day to day activities, the short cage is out of the way and easy to live with, but night times suck. I can barely get through a night without multiple wake ups, and generally after a couple of nights wearing any device, we take it off so I can sleep.

I’ve come to this conclusion after ordering many custom cages over the years. Some manufacturers would suggest slightly longer and wider than flaccid (steelworxx) and others would suggest the tightest tube you can wear flaccid (Ms Lorri)

Neither approach was good for me

Like me I think Mature Metal's sizing guide work for you. Looking at the poll it seems to suit most.

 

When you look at pictures of people that are just starting into Chastity you see longer than flaccid. When you look at the pictures of people in long term lockup you see shorter than flaccid.

Shorter than flaccid is the most comfortable for long term wearing, but no to cocks were created equal you need to experiment a little before you find Your Perfect Cage. The Poll results in my Opinion are Very Acurate.

 

It all depends. But I’ve shortened my Contender cage to be just long enough to contain my flaccid glans. Any shorter and it might push out the back. These “cap” cages that only hold the 5/8” of the glans penis aren’t optimal in my personal opinion.

The shortest I like is something that surrounds my glans and nothing more. I don’t get any extra length. But when I get aroused, the cage completely encases and prevents even the slightest broadening to my erect width.

So that about 1-1/4” cage length for many men. The ball gap and base ring width adds another 1/2” typically.

My flaccid length is longer but I can stuff myself into this cage and I sleep like a baby. I can lie on my stomach. And the cage is very discreet.

I’m a grower though, so your mileage may vary.

 

Slightly longer than flaccid to me. The cage itself is not what restricts the erection, it’s the attachment to your balls. The main growth during the erection is lengthwise, and the cage essentially creates a tug-of-war between the erection and the balls, and the shorter the cage the more pressure you put on your balls (as @slutpj said, it just gets pushed away from the body and you "back fill" it). With some room to grow in length I find the strain on the balls much more manageable.

 

Right you are. I find that I little bit shorter is more comfortable, theirs less moving around and it’s more discreet. It definitely isn’t “One size fits all” The most important thing is it securely locked and you can’t freely play with it they make many different cages so we all find what’s best for us.

 

Definitely a need to swallow ones pride and go for a snug, smaller fit.

It took us a few tries to find the right one. With my gf inadvertently sending my sub side into buzz mode when she innocently said I can't fill a certain cage and would most likely need a far smaller one and "I thought you were bigger than this but it's actually small."

This is the "gotcha" with captive ball devices. Many guys can simply pull their penis right back out. For me - I can't get my balls out of the gap between cage and ring, so even if I can pull my cock out, I can't get the cage off.

My cage is slightly smaller than me when flaccid. Tube length is 2.25 inches. Erections don't get to happen. Pain issue doesn't really exist for me. If I get aroused, cage gets real tight, and I might even leak, but there is no erection. After almost a year now, I am very happy with the cage I use.
