    Well I do think america needs reigning in.
    Throwing ones weight about, all over the world, invading countries and plundering resources is rather passe these days.
    Tha Vikings, the British Empire, the French, Spanish, Dutch, all finished doing that sort of thing years ago.
    It's silly and it's brutal and it does no one any good at all.
    Futhermore, when i was a child, america was seen to have the biggest, best and newest brilliant ideas.
    I think in a way it was its death knell. it ceased looking outside itself for inspiration.
    Now, each time I visit america it doesn't seem to have moved forwards at all. it's isolated itself from the rest of the world and has become very much "stuck in the past".

    The industrial military complex and capitalist kindergarten coruption no longer has kudos and it's not only destructive it's boring.
    No ones impressed with this misbehaviour
    And now, finally, your emporer really does have no clothes on and everyone is shouting it from the rootops world wide.
    America, it's time to come home now.

    Everyone likes to shout from the roof top with their hands out looking for America to give them something. We are coming home to the idea of America first. Anyone who wants to help by working hard, showing responsible behavior and obeying the law is more than welcome to share. Anyone who wants to pick our pocket, suck us dry, kill us because we are Americans is now on notice.... no more.

    I like the reference to a loss of independence or freedom.
    Its a main factor of for our raison d'être .

    Next ...
    I suppose how we 'won' our independence was political in nature & I can see how it came up.
    I have ventured into the political realm a few times - and it usually didnt go well.
    Object lesson?

    Lastly ...
    My take-away from this thread is the reminder that open & honest communication is vital.
    Both for personal relationships to be successful as well as for guiding international events.


    I occasionally wonder ...
    How would things have developed & what would they look like today had King George III been able to be flexible during the period of Colonial Upheaval?

    Amanda sweet heart, most of the world will take anything America will give them. Military bases were a favorite of the UK. But most others will take money, food, medical aid, road building etc without any hesitation.

    Indeed america does make a lot of money rebuilding infrastructure after they have bombed countries. Also cajoeling countries into handing all their resources over in exchange for intratructure delivered by american companies.
    it might work on telly over there but the rest of the world can see what's going on.

    They get more bombs then medical aid. There are bad bad countries, if they buy weapons for some billion dollars they are ok. They are great in finding reasons to start wars when the central interest is oil. You remember the lies and fake show when the Iraq war was started??

    And when your country is about to get rolled...by some other country...who do you call...oh thats right us horrible americans..who are still willing to die for anyone at a moments notice. I am proud to be american which lately according to the media i should be ashamed...why? Because some american companies only care about money? But its ok for china to force kids and adults to work for nothing to make your tv or your phone...i dont agree with everything my country does and i doubt anyone from other countries loves everything there government does either. People only like americans when they are about to get stomped from another country and need our help. Cough cough ww2. I love other xountries but i also love mine...shame on me i guess
