    Hi

Back in December I mentioned on these forums that I released an app called ChastiKey which acts as a keyholder for solo chastity play. While it was initially built as an app for myself to use I really wanted something that would also allow for remote keyholders to take control of users locks, and I'm pleased to say that I've now got the basics of that working in the latest beta version of ChastiKey. The public version on the store lets you share locks but in the beta version you can now control those locks. With recent updates you are also able to create short locks that last for a couple of hours which would be perfect for self bondage or to test the waters. You can use the app (including sharing and managing locks) without needing to register or give any personal details. No names, email addresses or passwords are needed.

At the moment it's only available on Android. I will attempt to release it for iOS in the New Year but I'm not convinced Apple will allow it, even though there's no mention of chastity in the app at all.

If you're interested in giving it a try I'd love to hear your feedback :)

    Here's the beta version: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/co.uk.kevincross.chastikey

And here's the main puclic version which doesn't have the option to control locks: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=co.uk.kevincross.chastikey

    Thanks

    Kevin

    Hi Kevin,
This looks really cool! I chuckled at your dodging the actual purpose of the key app in the public-facing description.

Thanks Sara :) it was really hard keeping the word chastity from the store description and inside the app. It's a shame because I get a lot of downloads and uninstalls where people don't understand what it was created for.

There's a problem with the current live version where the QR codes don't load and scan perfectly. It's been bugging me for days. Finally found a fix and it working every time now for me so will be releasing a fix soon. Just mentioning it in case you or others publicly share locks.

I've released a new version now. Quite a few changes were made but here's the biggest two:

    • Control other users locks. To do this, you need to create a lock that can be used by others, share it, and wait for the user(s) to load it. Once they've loaded you will be able to increase or decrease their duration and add/remove cards if it's a variable lock.
    • Improved the accuracy of loading and scanning QR codes that are shared. They were failing quite a lot in the previous version.

I've noticed that I'm unable to delete shared locks once they have been opened.

If you're using version 2.1.2 or 2.2.0 you should be able to delete them. I've just deleted one of mine that had one of my test accounts assigned to it. I'm assuming you're seeing the red bin icon? And by opened you mean someone has loaded your shared lock? Would you mind PM'ing me the lock id please so that I can have a look? It's 15 characters long. It can be found in your shared locks list and at the top of the QR code.

I traced your locks in the database and it looks like you still have 2.0.0 installed. You can see what version you have installed by opening the menu in ChastiKey and then scrolling to the bottom of the menu.

When I first introduced these I didn't want people sharing and deleting shared locks as I was concerned that there would be lots of dead shared locks floating around on the internet which would be annoying to users trying to load them. I found a way in the end to keep the locks alive but allow users to hide them from their shared locks list permanently. You're not actually deleting them as such but you are removing them from your list and aren't able to add them back.

Please update ChastiKey and try and delete them again. If you're currently locked by your keyholder with ChastiKey you might want to wait until that lock has finished before updating.

This is the kind of thing you'd see in the app once you update, and when your keyholder makes changes to your lock

At the moment the above notification only appears within the app once you've opened it. In the next version there will be push notifications when a lock has been updated and when someone has loaded your shared lock.

I would love this app if there was an iOS version of it. I'm on Android, but my GF is on iOS.

Maybe it would be easier to get apple to approve it if you said it was for timed locks used in dieting or something like that? Dieters use timed safes all the time. This app could be used like that.

    Following...

Your concept is very clever Kevin!
If I am assuming correctly, you need a type of lock box for the key, correct?
Can you walk me through the process if you have time to post?
I'm still not understanding totally and I'm on iOS

@MVee you can use any key safe with up to an 8 digit lock. Rather than uploading a photograph of your code you are given a code to enter into the device (which allows me to use a digital safe which asks me to repeat the code before accepting it). The app then shows you lots of random numbers to try and help forget it.

The downside to this is that I found it easy to remember at least some digits of a 4 digit code. At 8 digits I don't remember enough to get out. Plus my safe makes an attention drawing siren sound if I enter the code wrong. Grrr!

On the flipside entering your code personally at the beginning of the session means no surprises at receiving a grainy smudged photo with no visible code days, weeks, or worse - somewhere down the line.

Just for the record it is possible to get locked for a long time if you chose a lock from another keyholder. Kevin has put in failsafes to stop someone being evil and dumping a lot of time on your lock and running away. But there is nothing to stop them coming back every day (or hour depending on the lock) and adding time. The only way to avoid this is to only create locks for yourself, or, set up an emergency key release price before you start. This could be just a few pounds/dollars to buy out or much more depending on how much you want to disincentive yourself from using it. A small price and you may get trigger happy using it, a large one and you may give Kevin's bank balance a healthy bonus. Some locks disable emergency keys altogether...

This sounds interesting! I don't have anyone locked up, but I'm going to download it and play with it. If there's anyone who wants to share their lock on the app, so I can see what it looks like, that would be neat.

    Hi LadyMoon,

As a keyholder you would create locks and share them for other people to load. Once they've loaded your lock you will be able to add and remove time. You can't load someone else's shared lock and control them because they would be your keyholder.

If you created a lock and posted it on these forums you will probably get a few users loading it, and once they've loaded it you will be able to modify each users lock from within the app.

I've recently introduced 4 basic keyholder bots too for those that want that little bit of the unknown and aren't ready/willing to use a real keyholder.

    Thanks,
    Kevin

For everyone that's asking for iOS. Once my iOS device has been delivered I will start looking at it, and if there's no major changes needed it will hopefully be available within the next month or so.
