Hi, I'm looking for improved ideas for a time delay for releasing a key.

I've previously used Emlalock, but one of us always ends up remembering the combination from the picture when desperate. We've also tried freezing the key in a bottle of water, but find that easy to circumvent with hot water, of course.

I'm trying to find cheap but efficient ways to force a delay on a chastity key, that CAN NOT be rushed, or at least much compared to melting ice in a water bottle or thermos. Time-release safes are out of the question due to beings hundreds of dollars or more.

Otherwise, whenever even with agreement, one of us ends up wanting the unlock the other bad enough for our own use, we speed up the key release. Thanks!

You can actually scan or photograph the combination without looking at it. Upload the image then delete it.

Also, time release safes aren't hundreds of dollars! You can get a timer "kitchen safe" for more like USD30. (review here)

    Other solutions.
    • Leave the key in your car, parked elsewhere.
    • Leave the key at work!
    • Post the key to yourselves.
    • Make a rivet for your device out of "polymorph plastic". It's a plastic that turns to putty at about 60 degrees C. Easy to put the rivet in. Getting it out involves an hour messing with a hair drier and a damp cloth to cover your bits so you don't scald them. Obviously this works best for longer lockups. I dare you.

I'll second the Kitchen Safe, it's great for self lockers and busy keyholders!

Learn to make soap or candles and embed the key in the center. You don't get the key until the outer covering wears down enough to retrieve it "naturally"

Emlalock works very well for me. I use a 4-digit Master lock, (like a luggage lock only larger and sturdier.) Without looking at the combo, I turn the hasp and click it in so I can set the combination. I then turn the dials, still without looking. I pull the hasp back out so the combination is set. I access emlalock.com on my phone so I can use the camera. After "choose file", "take photo" is an option. I put my hand over the middle of my phone so I can't see the combination, but I can see that the picture of the hasp is clear. After I choose "Use photo", which sends the picture, it is never stored on my phone. Still without looking at the combination, I go and put the keys to my chastity device in a toolbox in the garage, and use the Master lock to lock the toolbox. I guess if the picture turned out not to be good, I would need to use a hacksaw to open the toolbox, so I'd better make sure the hacksaw does not get locked up!

First wrap the key in multiple layers of adhesive tape.
Then get a food tin and enough cement mix to fill it, make a stiff mix, pour half in the tin, then the key, then the remainder of the cement.
If that isn't enough, dig a deep hole in the garden and bury it.
The combined time to undo all the above should be a deterrant. :)

We use a kitchen safe. It’s the only thing that’s worked for us during those longer lock ups. In fact, only one of us has actually accidentally broken it trying to get to the keys early. (Hint: it wasn’t me! That’s why I love this woman!). We used the excuse to get a replacement container section that makes the whole setup much smaller and easier to put away when guests are coming, or to travel with. Stands a few inches high vs the original at several times that height. Same locking lid.

    Highly recommend kitchen safe.

Didn't know they made a smaller version. If it can fit inside the larger one you can have up to 20 days. Keys go into small one, lock & set timer 10 days, then remove batteries, and put it into large one and lock & set timer that one 10 days. Then even after you've released large one you've to replace batteries in small one to resume the time running.....

    Or
Just set the timer for 24 hours but take the batteries out. Then you have a 24 hour cooling off period before being released.

It doesn't, the lid's made to fit both the large and small bases interchangeably, which was nice, it meant I had to pay less than half the cost of a whole new one to get the smaller one. I'll see if I can't snap a picture.

Here's what they look like side by side, pardon the mess.
