    PLEASE NO SPECIFIC NAMES PLEASE.

I don't want to up set the process as per @Mistress Watchful has started.

However I wonder what the other side of the coin is.
As users and thus the life blood of any website ,what would you think would make a good moderator?
    REMEMBER NO NAMES PLEASE.

    xx Wendy

The job of a moderator on any site is to uphold the rules of the site. To moderate or delete any posts that violate the rules or ethos of the site and to protect members from being flamed. It is also their job to remove any spam message or spammers from the membership database

I will be closely monitoring this thread.

Keep it POSITIVE... I only want to see what a Moderator SHOULD be.

    And 100% NO NAMES.

All nominations to come to my inbox.

A negative removed from above post.

Please keep it to attributes required rather than attributes NOT wanted.

Along with alll that @I LOVE my Choice! is putting forward we are focused on:

Mods should - to some extend - mirror the diversity in here!

    - Diversity in sex,
    - Diversity in age,
    - Diversity in sexual orientation, kink etc...
    - Diversity in types of relationships,
    - Level of experience - ( What I am saying as that the more we are getting entangled in this lifestyle the harder it gets to remember our initial introduction and the concerns involved.)
    - Level of commitment to the cause (from vanilla to hardcore)

    etc. etc. etc...

You get the picture, right? LOL!
That will form a strong base for a mod-team I think.-)

Besides that we Think ETHICS and TOLERANCE is important.
And a commitment to wash dirty laundry among mods behind the scenes, - and not in the open... It is such an ugly sight;-)
Not to forget the ability to protect members from scammers and bullies of any kind....

That's about it- for a start.:)

Oh - I almost forgot ( No we did not) - That mods should have the very best for CM at heart...

DREWife and BlueEyes - the lifestyle from a Danish perspective;-)

    P.S. Great Thread @Wendygirl !

A true moderator ... needs to be able to separate their personal beliefs and feelings from those of the community they are watching over, just like a mediator would.

With that said, they most also believe in the community and the "rules" it has. It is best if the rules that are being "enforced" are presented somewhere for all to see.

I've been part of a board that has been in existence for 17 years now, it has changed staff / moderators / admin and was even taken over by a different company, The board always runs the best when the Rules are opening conveyed and explained and that there is an area that is set aside for the rowdy to act stupid. Meaning that the moderators leave that area alone for the users to opening voice their opinions unchecked and get into political debates / make fun of each other / crack tasteless jokes / etc ... but it is known you enter that area at your own risk and that kind of behavior is NOT tolerated on the rest of the board ... Why the long winded explanation ... because ... a good moderator has to allow a bit of of this type of behavior some way, some how with out it effecting the community as a whole, and it is usually easiest for a moderator to handle if it has a separate area.

Everything you mentioned is acceptable in our Bar area.

The main thing that causes problems is personal attacks, and these will not be tolerated ANYWHERE.

On Vanilla sites I see the attraction of a no conversations barred area, but here we are very open to begin with.

This is off topic for the main conversation which is QUALITIES OF A MODERATOR.

I'm happy for you to start a new thread on the idea and continue there if you wish.

As for rules, we will be working on that once we have a new team, and they will be more visible than they are now.

Back to the topic at hand....

The team I have at the moment is doing well, but this is a large forum and needs a lot of looking after.

Members in different time zones would be advantageous.

But you are right, I don't think we need 23,000+ Moderators. I will bear that in mind.

An ability to communicate clearly and honestly.

An ability to cede ones opinion to enable swift and appropriate action.

An ability to work solely towards a consensus and a resultant appropriate action.

Not all of these are possible at all times of course as we are all human, but the above should without a doubt be the guiding aim of any mod team.

From my experience of online forums, and FetLife groups, I have to say @SubVerity hit the nail right on the head, especially with putting communication first
