I admit defeat..

OMG you have no idea how happy I was to see the old site back. I'm sure it was painful to flush away all that work, but I really didn't like the IP.Board layout or flow as much as XenForo.

I also help to host & run several online forums (vB, XenForo, phpBB, custom..), and I understand how unbelievably complicated it can be to change a community website. Managing online communities is surprisingly hard.

I will be first in saying "thanks for the hard work". Don't be too hard on yourself. New things / change is never easy. Those who bailed will be missed, but that is their problem. One can never anticipate all the the problems when introducing something new. My comment is that mini chat has stopped working.

 

I wanting say a great big Thank you to Mr Admin man. its Christmas again here now and everthing has all come back.

Did members in fact bail? If so, maybe sending out a mass message to all members telling them the site was reverted would bring them back?

 

Sorry I have no information on the fact of anyone leaving! I have read some negative messages directed at the administrator. So I assumed that they had left. My apologies.

 

Thank you for all you do to make this exchange of life styles and ideas available to all of us. Not to worry about a screw up from time to time. Going back and making it right is what really matters. One phrase I live by, "if it works, don't fix it." I think most would agree that this format is working just fine. Thanks again for your efforts and have happy holiday season.

I just want to say thank you for the work you put in, to make this site a very workable community. I'm sure you've heard in life people don't like change, but change is always going to happen. I was willing to make the new site work and give it some time to adjust, obviously a number of members were not by the feed back you received. Don't be to hard on yourself. I for one appreciate everything you have done here to make this a comfortable and educational site to express our views and learn about this lifestyle as non-mainstream as it may be... Again many thanks. Merry Christmas and Happy New year!

P.S. I do miss the mini-chat that was at the bottom of the screen though. Hopefully that can be worked out. If not Oh well.....

 

I have to say how happy I am to have the old site back. I didnt want to say anything negative about the otehr version - hey, maybe I'd have got used to it, but......it just didnt make me feel like posting. Too much space somehow. Made me feel empty.

This version feels more....homely?

But either way - thanks @Administrator for all that you do and all that you try.

i told you i would stick around and see how it worked.well i did and am soooo glad you brought the good site back.
this site has charm and class.
the other one looked and acted like an after action report.
i have loved this site for years and yes i hate change,especially when it is unexpected.
i do thank you from the bottom of my heart.you made my day when i opened this up and saw the old familiar site.

 

Thank you administrator for ALL the work you do. I hope no one here thought you were out to ruin the site! I appreciate that the site is here, whatever form it manifests. I thought the new version was fine. But then I decided sometime ago now that I would embrace all change as it occurs. Since change is the only constant on this earth. Why bother grumping about it?.

I quite liked some of the features of the new site and I'm glad we had a chance to try it out.
Anyhow it's nice to be back other than I've lost all the mails from my inbox since last sunday including several unread mails that I noticed this morning, so apologies to those of you who wrote to me and didn't receive a reply. xx

 

I for one was happy to see the new site, Worked soooo much better on my phone then this one.

You own the site, what ever change you want to make you can.

 

Didn't notice you had. The other layout was different but worked perfectly fine for me. It's genuinely saddening that some felt they had to resort to giving you verbal over it.

If this were any other place, I'd suggest they go and have sex to get it out of their system.

Thanks for supporting and maintaining this site and I'll be along for the ride. Whatever it may look like and however it may function.

 

awww man. I was just getting used to the new site. Besides that, I could get into the mod's forum in that one...... IMO, it's your site and you should be allowed to do hat you want with it. I guess anyone who bitches about a change always has the option to start their own site....

 

good on you for giving it a go. It is your site after all, and we're lucky to have it. I liked the new version personally.

 

I have just logged on and am (pleasantly) amazed that all of a sudden it is back to as it had been; I especially like the Christmasy banner header which O'd thought was gone for good. There might have been new features on that other format which weren't here prior, but I'm not bothered!

 

Admin, it's your forum and we are all guests here. I just feel lucky to have found the community, whatever it's look!

 

I am glad it is back so thank you for that.
I guess the lesson is that while the new site may have had significant benefits from an admin point of view
it was pretty shit from a user perspective.
Anyway good on you for trying and keep up the good work.

As someone who has had to deploy nasty software in really bad environments .... you get no qualms from me and for those that sent nasty messages to the admin ... shame on you.

I find people like that are you usually management types that underestimate work, over-promise to the customer, and belittle people who do actual real work. The only place I like to be micro-managed personally is in the bedroom ... not the office ....

So thank you for your fantastic efforts and great rollback.
