Photos load sooooo slooooow!!

    Any chance to focus a future update on improving the speed that photos can load? I don't visit for the photos specifically, but sometimes I try to open a few and it's so unbelievably slow.

    Part of the problem is that many of the images are much larger than they need to be for a forum

    Could be, but every other site seems to handle that situation. I doubt CM users are uniquely uploading super high res images relative to everyone else on every other site.

    There are many factors for slow photo loading one of which is the images captured via the phone.
    Many phone cameras now produce high resolution images allowing for large photo printing, if your using an actual Dslr or newer mirrorless cameras you can exponentially multiply that.

    Another issue is speed retrieval from the forum host, the forum itself is designed for text based format which has a very small footprint so retrieval is quick.

    Another is cellular data connection speeds that vary from network and device specifications also include WiFi under the same situation.

    Solutions
    If your phone has a setting for lower resolution use that before taking the photo just remember to turn back on the high resolution before taking memorable and precious photos.

    Another solution is to compress your images you specifically wish to use for Web sites. There are lots of free jpg compression apps and software for all kinds of devices.

    Any jpg roughly 1mb or 2mb or less is a file size that should load quickly on websites.

    Jpg is a international standard photo format.

    Gif is also an image format that can contain extra frames making the photo appear to be animated.

    There are others but are unnecessary to explain.

    I don't want to upload pictures, just look at them. This situation has nothing to do with me.p and I can't control it.

    My point is it could be many things to cause slow image loading.

    For me I've no issue loading the photos from the CMGallery on my Mobile/Cell in any browser.

    Perhaps some people don't cut down their pictures enough. Most phones today will give you upwards of 4K resolution, which just isn't needed. This isn't a fine art museum.

    Moving to cloudflare and spending $20 a month would do a lot to speed up CM.

    The site shoud resize images, not let people upload full res images.

    In the old days of CM, the website was very slow,
    The Lucy took over CM become lighting fast with a tone of add no's
