Just a few thoughts on the PA-5000…. I can say that it’s the most combatable device that I have worn. It doesn’t cause any sort of problems, no wakeup’s, cleaning is easy. All in all it’s the easiest device to live. In some ways the easy of living with the device make me fell less confined, less locked up. I don’t know if this will quickly end after a couple of 5 am wakeups but I felt myself longing for the CB-6000 that I have worn off and on for a couple of years. Well today I got my ‘wish’ as we managed to break my second PA-5000. The seam split at the base. The problem occurred when we tried to open the lock. It seemed we turned the key a little to enthusiastically and the lock tuned and split the cage.

This is the second one we have broken, the first became gunged up after a 8 weeks and the lock seized, again when we tried to turn the lock it split. This one was replaced by tickleberry, but I doubt this one will be able to be replaced as I have had it for over a year

Having split both a 3000 and 6000 cage in half during an erection, I know the feeling all too well.

That is why I bought a Lori tube. If the stainless splits, I'm getting a job as a porn star! ROFL

Seriously, I was wondering if this would happen to the 5K. The advertising pictures show the seam all too prominently. I'd think the two halves could be welded on both inside and outside. That or they need to mold as a solid unit. The PA5000 looks could be molded as a solid unit. That obvious seam is why I did not buy a PA5000 when the 6K split.

I too purchased the PA5000 when I had it on for the 2nd day, the thing split down the middle. I had it replaced for free by the good folks at Mr. S Leather. After reading reviews on here I have decided to purchase the CB6000 & waiting for it to arrive. I'm and both excited and hopeful that this doesn't split after being hard in it for a day or so! Otherwise, I'm trading it for steel!!

I think using the extension ring might reduce possibility of splitting a lot. Too bad the ring might introduce other problems, namely the hook pushing the piercing frontwards, if the penis is not very long when flaccid.

    YMMV.

I hate to say it but my 5000 split also. I feel the ring would also cause issues with the piercing. I have had issues with the piercing here and there getting sore for a few days and when the cage split I was very frustrated with it. I would love to build one out of stainless rings but feel the weight of the metal would be too great for the piercing.

I am trying to come up with a design similar to the 5000 that you can use your own ring with and have a locking device attach to the cage. Being a Mechanical Engineer I have been working on some 3D designs. The key thing is it must be light like the 5000 but the key is not to have a seam. Mold the device out of one piece of plastic. Plastic molding is tricky.

Come to think of the splitting at the seam issue, it's a tube, have it extruded. Mill the vents and mill a lock mechanism.

Hmm, off to do some engineering...

    Me too.

No animals were harmed during the accident.

This morning, when putting the device on and closing the lock, the bottom seam split :(

    Now what?

In mu experience they split at the lock end. It's the lock turning (or not turning) that's causing the issue. I will try fixing my pa5000 later in the week and I think that binding the lock 'stork' is the way to go

I might try to fix mine, if I find motivation to do it. Don't know, though, would it be wise to properly crack open the device, clean up surfaces and reglue it together. Or just clean what I can and glue the already cracked seam.

I just ordered a new pa5000 plus cb3000 and the curve.

I've been using 1.25" PA5000, but I can have an orgasm with it with enough dedication. I want to try next step smaller, if it would be more restrictive. I have no idea how big the difference really is ... 0.125" does not sound like a lot, but who knows...

Of course I've seen pictures and reviews of 3000 and the curve, but I've never seen a live item. I must admit I'm quite curious to try them on. My previous experiences of the "ring behind balls" devices are not very good (birdlock, hf-100, several others) but maybe the plastic would work. Time will tell.

Hate to beat a dead thread, but these are some issues I noticed.

After mine split (the lock froze, and the key turned the entire lock, not just the cam) I saw the screw holding the cam was not stainless, and had quite a bit of corrosion on it. For this reason, I glued mine back together instead of ordering a replacement. I replaced the screw with a stainless screw.

I agree- the extension ring could be the answer. A solid ring glued to the end would reinforce it enough to where the splitting issue would not be so bad. It would be nice to be able to add a ring to both ends, but don't see how.

When mine is off for cleaning, we add one or two drops of oil from my electric shaver, and that seems to keep it working smoothly. Silicone works great too. Doesn't take much- and make sure you work it in well and let it dry before you put it on. You don't want oil getting into your system...

To increase comfort (pulling on the pin), I found that if I put a rubber o-ring on the pin first, the put the pin in my piercing and lock it, the extra width of the ring raises the head, or glans, just enough to where the ridge is 'caught' on the rim of the opening, and it holds it nicely in place. You need an o-ring thick enough- mine is about 1/4". If you have a CB-3k or other similar model, you can experiment with the spacers and see what I mean.

I'd like to come up with something different, maybe stainless, but can't think of a way to attach a lock. I'd like to incorporate the lock with the tube (as the PA-5K is), and don't really want to use a padlock...

    Heck, why not :)
Oh cool. I will do the same. I have one pa5k, which is otherwise in fine condition. The lock just did the same, despite oiling it twice a week.
The standard gluable ring won't be enough. Been there, done that.

JackStrap: raporting from India, all locked up for two weeks.

Splitting is a result of the pressure from the inside imparted radially toward the outside. Erections will do that.

Cracks form following weaknesses of the material or the structure. In this case the seam is the weak part, so the crack will form there. So far that is obvious and says nothing new. Ideas about one-piece construction are great, but the manufacturing process would increase the cost.

A possible home solution is to install one of those tie-straps used in bundling wires. You could pull it very tight with pliers, thereby put pressure from outside in. If you are really hard and large when erect, use two ties. This would counteract the aforementioned pressure from inside out, and keep your relatively safe. Of course, this is no solution to the sticking-lock caused fracture. That is just cheap manufacture for you.

All Miller devices seem to have this problem... I've had every one of them and indeed they all split. My 5000 did as well and I laid a small bead of super glue on the inside and outside seam and it's solid now. Use a very small amount and let sit overnight.
