My partner/keyholder wants to wear a key necklace to constantly remind me of my position. I suggested that I loved the idea but it'd hold even more appeal if the key was functional. She said she wanted something pretty to wear, so I am asking if there is someplace online I can buy custom or designed keys/locks?

Check some of the past threads. I know there are sites where you can get nice custom designs and they have been discussed with links. Good luck and enjoy.

Also - not every lock works well with every cage. For example, the jailbird has very tight tolerances. So I would be interested in a custom lock for my jailbird, but it would need to be an exact match (in size) to the Abus lock that came with it.

One way to get what you want is to cut off the operating part of the key and fix it to an ornate key.

You can get nice ornate keys from second hand furniture / antique stores, cut the old operating part off and replace it with the working part of the device key. Expoy resin / JB Weld will do the job or ask someone to solder/braze it for you, they don't need to know what the key is for.

Do you know if keys that small can be copied? You could get a blank and reproduce it. Including better looking blank key options...

Long time ago, I ordered a modified steel heart 2, from steelworkxx. I wanted secure abloy lock, not the normal padlock which is easy to open without the key. (lock pick, thin piece of metal, or flat head screwdriver). Steelworkxx did excellent job by putting much larger locking pin, which would allow abloy lock to put in. Sadly the ring sizes I ordered, were not just right and the type of CB is not working, due to size fluctuations.
But if you can get like abloy sento lock, there comes the key card and two keys, which you can not get, without the keycard and a key, when you go to order extra keys... nice and secure :D
