Just got my long awaited device. What craftsmanship! Curious, are the security screws supposed to not come out if you don’t have the key? I ask because even if I screw it in fairly tight, by the end of the day with a little patience, I can remove that screw with my fingers. I love the clean look the screws give. They make it look permanent. But unless I’m doing something wrong, it’s going to be a lock for me.

You could try purple or blue loctite, I would not do the red. Purple is pretty light and will only take some pressure to twist out, blue a little more snug. Red will require heat, would not want to try that unless your like roasted nuts.

I had a similar problem with my Queens Keep,
I had to send it back for a different ring size, so I asked them to countersink the screw while it was there.
Once the screw was countersunk, it was much tougher to budge without the key

That’s a great idea. I think I need a smaller ring as well. Perfect solution because I do like the look better with the screw. And if one chooses to adorn one’s penis, style matters!

Locktite, even purple, is not a good idea.

    I learned that lesson

    Good luck!

Lots of discussions here about that. A quick forum search should give you a very good feel for the issue. Mine is countersunk which IMO is the best option.

Seems weird that they don’t just, by default countersink the screws. Not really security screws if you can take them out with your fingers. Hate the inconvenience of sending back to get this but seems best option.

I have wondered many times why MM just doesn’t default to countersinking. They don’t even mention the on their site! I assume it’s because the counter-sinking is not compatible with a padlock at all. But the screw as offered is less secure then a dollar store padlock.

Although not being a MM wearer, I did recognised the same with my MCN Contender, equipped with a safety screw. However, Mark changed his security concept recently. On his improved security screws there is an additional feature at the bottom side of the screw, which has a built-in lockwasher. I will not have to use a lot of force or power to lock this screw into place and keep it there for long periods. So no locktite needed and no frustrations anymore that the screw was loose by the end of the day and I had to bother my Love again for the keys....

Countersinking not compatible with a lock? I do like using the lock on occasion. I like handing over the key and then with no key in sight, clicking that lock shut. It’s a bit of a mind game but clicking the lock shut while the key is already long gone seems so ominous.

Try inserting the screw from the other side. Mine works loose on one side, but stays tight on the other.

I agree re. countersinking, but disagree totally about the MM screw being “less secure than a dollar store padlock.” My MM security screw does not come loose at all, and it would be very difficult to remove it without the key. I would be very nervous about stripping the head if I tried anything other than the perfectly shaped key, and gripping the head with pliers would be extremely difficult. A dollar store padlock is defeated by the cheapest set of bolt cutters you can find, and I also understand (although I haven’t done it) they are easy to pick for anyone who bothers to learn how.

MM says not compatible. The padlock will certainly go through the holes; I understand they say not compatible because the countersinking hole is so large it allows a lot of rotation and movement of the cage around the base ring post.

    Get some plumbers PTFE tape.
Wrap a number of turns around the screw and then screw it in.
It'll easily screw out with the key, but won't work loose on it's own.

Never overtighten screw threads, as even a perfectly fitting thread will become loose if you do, you'll be compressing and can even strip the quite fragile threads which will make it loose.

PTFE tape? The guy at the hardware store will know what that is? (Or do I tell him I need to make the security screws on my cock cage more secure). That actually sounds like a great idea. Will pick some up tonight and will let you know.
Though if memory serves I won’t have my keys until Wednesday, so I’ll let you know then.

For those interested I just got a jailbird. I had it countersunk with a security tag option which is a second small hole. It’s not large enough for the Abus lock but it will fit a smaller standard brinks luggage lock or security tag of course. Along with the screw at the same time.

    This stuff:
    https://www.amazon.com/s?k=ptfe+tape

It's just a very thin ribbon, made of PTFE (Polytetraflouroethylene) plastic.

Thinking about it, you don't even need the real plumber's tape.
Just get a soft plastic bag, rip a strip off and wrap it around the thread. That will be enough to secure the screw without any issues about unscrewing it again.

I’ve had the MM security screw and the newer MCN one from Mark, and the lock washer additions to the underside of the MCN are exceptional. You get it tight, then turn it again and can feel the washer engaging.
They fit the MM screw holes perfectly too.

Can you tell me more? Where do I get these? What is MCN?

I’ve had my jailbird a few weeks now. Love, love, love it. I prefer the look and feel of the screws but they are not secure and I don’t get the same feeling of being locked. If there was a way like this that the screws couldn’t come out (at least easily) without the key, that would be perfect.
