So between me and my keyholder, the process is more keeping me primed and ready for her rather than pure chastity. Therefore I am unlocked quite regularly (every 1/2 weeks) for use then back in. What's annoying my keyholder, who likes to tease me for a while before unlocking, is that even though my cage is short (40mm) I get semi hard as the cage is coming off, then it's difficult to escape the ring. It all gets a bit messy and slows down the mood. I've heard about hinged rings, are there any short metal cages with a hinged ring that when you unlock it all just slips off?
We have actually been doing this, spinning the ring around so the locking part is at the bottom and going from there.
They have devices with hinged rings that open all the way up. Some of them might pinch but its an option.
My experience has been that hinged rings provide pinching or chafing points, especially for long term wear.
That's been my solution. Leaving the base ring on as a cock ring also provides the advantages of a cock ring: more dramatic presentation, greater swelling and rigidity and color... win-win situation.
This is disappointing, my keyholder doesn't really like me staying in the ring but accepts it to speed up the switch from denying to action. A quick release mechanism still held in place by a lock seems like a good idea.

This cage is hinges on the bottom. I don’t have any experience wearing because A) the base ring is too small and B) I find it difficult to put on by myself. It’s pretty common on DHGate and the urethra plug is hollow AND removable.
I have a cage with that type of hinged ring (not at all the same cage shape or length though). As I expected, the hinge was quickly uncomfortable the first time I tried it. However, after smoothing all the angles with a deburring wheel, it became comfy, and I was able to wear it continuously for a week with no scrotum issues. On the other hand, installing the lock can be irritatingly fiddly because the hinged ring is not providing a rigid alignment of the cylinders the lock has to slide into. Often, having a third hand would help! For the same reason, the lock sometimes resists extraction, especially if the penis has been aroused and tensions the whole locking arrangement.
Yes there are, all over DHGate. But You don’t need a new cage. Just some lubrication to reduce friction. We use lubrication to ease removal and installation of the cage. Last year, my wife was releasing me very often for teasing and locked me back up into my custom Contender cage (1.5” long, 2” total). Some cyclists chamois creme eased things a lot. Chamois Butt’r is the one we use. P.S. Personally hate hinged rings. Nasty pinchy things. One solid ring rules them all...
I find that less than satisfying for me. It interrupts how my skin moves, and doesn’t let me feel fullly released. Maybe that’s a feature for some.
That's interesting. When I was in the CB3000, Mrs Edge and I liked keeping the solid ring on. I ended up making some of my own for other devices, and even modified a ring from one of the A274 devices. And when I started with the A272, I would just rotate the ring so the locking section was out of the way. You're right, for us it was a feature, not a bug.
I'll stick with extra lube for a while, see how that works. As I said I was quite happy with the cage until this. Thanks for mentioning that it's tension making it harder to undo the lock too, was worried it was getting rusty!!
A bit out of my price range but I really do like that... That large but circular opening looks wonderful... Any cheaper, similar versions around?
Device was released several months ago so it's likely some enterprising fellow in the PRC has knocked it off by now. I don't know how to go about searching for it, though (if it exists).
