Ok so maybe I have overlooked or just down right missed it but have not been able to find a thread discussing this so if hear goes.

My girlfriend and I have been thinking about getting a more secure lock for my device ( cheap brass lock on it now not secure at all ) at first I was thinking about getting an abus lock but after talking and deciding that we might want to put the key on a necklace we decided that if possible we would like to find an antique style pad lock with an ornate skeleton key or at least a decorative lock and a decorative key. After searching Google I wasn't able to find much. So I'm wondering if anyone here knows where we could find something like this we have looked at list locks but they seem to easy to pick any advice or info would be greatly appreciated thanks in advance

All the cool looking locks are shitty. They can be picked easy or rust or break. Find a good abus lock and grid key so that you can epoxy it into the end of a cool old key.

ya, I called around to find the places that had the old barrel key makers, etc. 3 of them said it wasn’t happening. Just want to be sure people knew. I will say though, now made, I do love it!

For locks, find one that you like that is well rated for exposure to water, the better 'marine grade' ones I've found work the best. ABUS and Master are available globally, LockWood in Australia and I'm sure there are other brands that can be found out there... Anyway, as for the lock, have it laser etched/engraved/printed at a local jeweler or trophy shop with something simple or as elaborate as you want... As for keys.. that's a different matter... Any good locksmith CAN create a key out of nothing.. They typically only want to cut a key from an existing one using a blank one that is specifically designed to match the lock cylinder/core that the original key works in. Those with a more modern shop/truck has a laser cutter that takes a lot of the excess out of the final product, where only the pin surfaces are left with a smooth transition between each of these.. They can also 'cut' a key to fit in an existing core that originally wasn't perfect or close enough for the blank to fit in the core so long as there's enough material in the blank to accommodate the 'machining' process. These can be quite costly to make a single key! BUT, if there is enough business to follow, the custom blanks can be produced in bulk... Like an aspirin, the first one probably cost $1-million to make, but the second through billions later cost $0.01 each......
