the idea of screw galling or lock failure resulting in being locked into a cage that is too expensive for attacking with a drill My lady tells me has some appeal.

Whenever you come to unlock will it or wont it open is perhaps not quite a thought I'd like to be entertaining

This Red Chili page gives a description and pictures of a typical security screw.
    http://malechastity-devices.com/index.php/lovekey

The Red Chili screw is a standard security screw for which screwdrivers with the correct head can be obtained, whereas some makers use a unique profile which will only fit the bespoke key.

But however they're secured, if you have the will and engineering skill you can always defeat a device. I wouldn't have a problem with my security screw, (even without the correct screwdriver I could engineer a way out) but my wife does leave the key lying around, on principle, I never touch it. There's both the trust that if we agree that I am to be locked until she decides then I should comply with that agreement, and the fact that I know and enjoy the emotional and hormonal benefits of denial, so I'd only be cheating myself if I took advantage. Sometimes the urge is there, but just wearing the device is enough of a deterrant to not cheat. (for me, your mileage may vary)

Given the trust and the fact that the additional padlock does make it bulkier, I've often thought of dispensing with the padlock and just using the screw, but there's something about her having control of a physical padlock key, it's just so symbolic!

Yes, because with just the padlock, the two parts (ring and cage) move around, so allowing an occasional pinch of skin. It might just be the diameter of the shackle of the particular padlock that causes this. When the security screw is used then the two parts are solidly fixed together, whether the padlock is used with it or not, so it's much more comfortable to wear.

My chastity started being mostly self-imposed, but I get a bigger psychological kick from only my wife having access to the key, so I prefer having the padlock even though it's a little bulkier. Although I think this year we've moved from it being my idea, to it being her prerogative.

I am probably not the right person to respond as i am in self imposed chastity...and only have the Holy Trainer....but i like the design with the internal magic lock so that there is no bulky lock which would detract from presenting a feminine front

I'm happy with my device, but if there had been the option of that type of discrete lock, yes I would have preferred that. One disadvantage of it though is that you need the key to lock it.
Having a snap-shut padlock means the key can be unavailable at the time you lock up - so the locking forces the confinement and a delay until the key can be retrieved.

The thing to remember with the security screws is that you can replace them with one that has the head type and key type you want. The screw thread will be a standard thread size, you just need to order the bolt with the head and key you want from a machine shop.

You could even get a one-way tamperproof one!

I tried the lock and found it difficult and bulky. I recently sent my JB back for gap adjustment and the securiy screw. After a couple tries, I can now line it up and insert the screw relatively easily. There is a post about techniques to line up the holes b/c it’s fairly precise. I’m having other issues right now with the sizing modification, but no doubt, I prefer the screw

I have used both. The problem I have with the security screw is that it is easy to remove with a tool that is made to grip the head of screws. Even just wearing it will loosen it up over time. The problem is a round screw head against a round post only puts the two in contact at two points making most of the screw head not pressing against anything. If you ask they will countersink the screw so you cannot use pliers to remove it.

I use Blue Loktite to keep it from vibrating loose. However I still can remove it if I want to without the key. The cage is definitely lighter with the screw as the lock tends to pull it down on me which is not good for a very small penis as it helps it pop out. I believe that chastity only works if you are willing to show self restraint. Any of us who has worn a device for any length of time know that it is easy to masturbate while locked despite what porn stories say. In fact you can find porn videos showing you how. So you really have to want to remain chaste for chastity to work more than a few weeks. That is why I still use the screw. I can but I will not.

If you want the illusion of not being able to masturbate, get the lock. The lock will at least reduce the chances of escaping but then again if you want to escape why do you want to be in chastity? I tend to only use the lock when I am going out for the day. The reason is that with the LokTite on the screw it takes a long time to remove it. With the padlock I use can use my emergency key if needed and I have needed it a few times. When you are laying down in a dentist's chair and a ball pops out and is being squashed, you want an emergency key. :)

On my new super short MM Jailbird i went with the security screw and a extra hole for a numbered security seal...that way even if screw gets loose i cant just take it off....really wish MM would start to do integrated locks. Cant wait to get it mid july!

Being totally boring, what about a cable tie instead of a padlock? It can’t be removed without a pair of side cutters. It does not make any noise. If you are mentally in agreement that the device stays on until your KH says OK then I think my suggestion is a solution.

    What do others think??

Having used both I much prefer the security screws low profile as well as it’s security from tampering

Padlock and key. Had to remove a cage the hard way, integrated lock failed in a PA device locking the cage... Fun for fantasy, not so much in reality. I had to use a large pair of bolt cutters to remoive PA and surrounding cage. Scary... dangerous and never to be repeated. I still have a PA, but I'll never lock it down in device, and I refuse to use a device without a simple padlock. Easy to remove, with or without lock mechanism issue. I wouldn't trust a screw in case it threaded.

Unless you've been down this road...

I chose the lock because I like knowing that it will never come loose. And I honestly like that it's a ltitle bulky and clangs once in a while. It's a good reminder that I'm owned and adds a level of humiliation, which I like. I also think my wife, who's currently luke-warm about the cage and this whole concept, would find the lock easier to remove than the security screw.

We do prefer integral locks when they are truly integral or fully enclosed like the ones in the Holy Trainer V2. They are aesthetically more pleasing than padlocks, don't damage your clothes and best of all they don;t scratch your partner.

Security screws look ok and work well for all the reasons above but I'm told you can almost guarantee that most people with a reasonable collection of tools will have something that will serve to undo the lock.

That said. The integral locks all seem to have only 2 tumbler arrangements meaning if you have 2 different keys you can unlock all of them. Unless of course anyone knows of a source for some better made ones.

I am finding the security screw *very* difficult to align. I had trouble getting a padlock into the hole (lining up the openings between the tube and the base ring.

To put on the screw, I inserted the padlock first, then pulled it out so it kept the holes aligned, then started rotating the screw. Once the screw was part-way in, I took the padlock out and finished moving the screw into place.

I do like the low profile of the screw but I will see if it becomes a major operation every time it needs to be removed or put on. (guess I'll just have to leave the device on indefinitely *g*)

Unless the security screw is a custome design, like the steewerks ‘S’ then the tool to open that screw will be on the shelves of must DIY places and easily accessible

Thoughts on this have been updated following discussion with my Lady

Security screw or integral lock both are acceptable to herthey don't scratch her dont wreck clothes or bedding and both can with little effort be fastened permanently. That is.. it would require damaging the cage to remove the cage and whilst doing so there is also a risk of damaging myself.. just more deterrant.... if it was needed.

She keeps telling me she has no plans to make my locking permanent but wants to be prepared for when or if she want us to go down that route.

A prospect I find both hot and somewhat daunting but its her call.
    No argument from me.
Full control was and remains her price and I'm happy to pay it.

Hey guys - I have the Queens Keep with both the screw and padlock. Definitely enjoy the comfort of the screw.

Question - we have trouble with the security screw getting on and off. Security isn’t the biggest concern so we are looking to replace the screw with one thats a bit easier. I’ve seen the Torx talked about, does this fit in the screw thread? Also what are the right dimensions of the screw?

Any help is greatly appreciated!! Any suggestions welcomed

i would have thought most tool boxes these day will have sufficient screwdriver heads that finding one to fit almost anything is probably not an issue.

lock and key - however internal lock - not the one hanging ;) steelworxx lock... ;)
had issues with the security screw as they quickly get worn out...

but as the question referred to padlock vs screw i would go for the screw.. i know 2017 ;) i am sure you made up your mind by now :D

We used cable ties with little tags molded on for while. My wife could write something on the tag so she could see if I'd replaced it. They are quite cheap on eBay and come in different (if a bit limited) colours.

    8-32 NC (metric).

I don’t know the exact length — maybe 3/8” or its rough metric equivalent. You can buy longer and cut with a hacksaw if no one else chimes in with the right number.
