Section names - a tad confusing, mildly evocative, but confusing.

Hello all you lovely people, I know this will have been asked before, so I'll make my case as briefly as possible. Actually, it's a bit of a long post for me, but bare with me.

I find all the section names utterly baffling and I've been here a while. New members here don't have a clue, they post everything in the first section they come across - hence all the threads that start off in the 'introductions' section - sorry - the 'foyer'.

I'm sorry but who has a foyer? We don't. We have a hall (it's a tiny corridor really), and we keep our coats and our bicycles in it. But here it's a foyer, and people are supposed to remember it's name and function, and it's the same with all the other sections, you have to remember what they're for as these names aren't either intuitive or instructional.

It's true that the names of the sections are related in some way to their purpose and I'm sure the intention is to be evocative, but the effect is just to confuse, bamboozle, obfusticate even, when the word confuse is perfectly good enough.

    For instance.....
There's the tower which is split into the vets house, the monks breakfast room and the choir boys quakeing chamber....
Then there's the boudoir which is split into the powder room and the little girls powder room, and the keep your powder dry room....

    It's just a bit......ok. very, obfusticating, sorry, confusing. ( ;) )

Can we discuss the idea of having some sensible names for these things - to help us out?

    Introductions.
    Announcements.
    General chat.
    Etc.

    Chastity:
    Male devices
    Female devices

    Worship:
    Toe sucking
    Grovelling
    Abject grovelling
    Etc.

You get the general idea I'm sure. I'm not saying reorganise the sections, just perhaps, just have these sensible titles directly after their current names?

I do like the current names and I don't think they should go completely or at all, but I don't think for a minute that they're easy to work with for the membership as a whole. The introduction of some sensible titles as an 'Also' rather than an 'instead of' might, just might be a good idea.

If this idea is shot down in flames then so be it, but it's worth putting out there and put it out there I have.

    Great ideas!

At times I have been a bit bemused as to where to post something....

And I've seen a few posts that start with something like: I'm not sure where to post this, but here goes..... Please move if in the wrong place...."

I do like the lower half of the home page.... from 'The Mall' down. Those headings work really well IMHO :D.

But I, too, get a bit confused in the other areas....

So - no offense intended to the site designer(s), but I bit of a 'spring clean' (depending on your part of the world!!!! ;)) sounds like a great idea @SubVerity

    With the absolute kindest regards.

    J.

I very much like where verity is coming from with that post. it can definitely be quite confusing.
I would also wish to ad the ladies room to the list of sections.
An area exclusively for girls to talk. Whether it be the weather, hair products, man handling, shoes or teasing tips.
just somewhere where the boys cant post all over us.
    :)

I really like the names of all the sections. I guess it took a lot of creativity to come up with them. Whoever wants to know what a section is about can find out easily from the fine print...

    Oh dear @SubVerity , that's blown it!

I think the whole idea was to reinforce the view of our cousins on the other side of the pond that we all lived in Mansions with sprawling acres. :p Maybe we should have had an Orangery where one could discuss the use oranges to ingest and enjoy certain compounds?

I think the level of information about sections one sees depends on the interweb device you are using. Mobile ones give far less information - whereas a laptop or full screen gives gull guidance.

More seriously, I suspect it would be nigh impossible for the sections to be amalgamated or streamlined at this late stage, but no doubt someone will say it would be easy peasy ;)

As for a separate non-male section? That's a whole new can of worms I would have thought.

Is this dommes only - or females only? And discussing weather, hair products, shoes? I thought this was a kink related Chastity site but there may be changes afoot to turn it into something else? ;)

There's certainly something to the level of information given.

For instance - my eyes are not what they once were, and reading that smaller writing isn't always easy.
Many people probably browse using tablets now, in which case, that small information may not show at all. Certainly it doesnt on my Ipod touch (phone with the phone un-simmed).

Just to be clear - I'm not asking for sections to be amalgamated, that would go against the grand plan and general layout of the place.

I'm only asking if it is worth having sensible names following some of the main section headings.

    I think it would.

    @SubVerity

If one does not have a foyer where do your footmen wait for you when you return from a night out say at the Opera ?

If they stand outside and it's raining it makes all their brass buttons turn green and look horrible against the red of their tunics.

Thank goodness @Wendygirl for someone who actually understands the situation! You are like a breath of fresh air :p And if it's raining the Cristal champagne on the tray waiting for you will be contaminated.

@SubVerity on a Touch?? Little wonder!!! ;) and now I understand your "speed" of chat LOL

    @Mascara^Snake
    Good Evening Mistress
May one enquire as you health and happiness?

With regard to your request for a Ladies room .
Would this be a ladies withdrawing room or as in modern vernacular a room where ladies go with friends whilst out in restaurants and feel unsafe on their own to spend a penny.

I feel it would be expedient at this time as we commence further adjustment to the accommodation , if we have your ideas or who qualifies for entry to the facilities you require .

It can be embarrassing to throw open a door to find one is not how shall we put this expected .

    Regards
    Wendy

I love it B, an orange grove with warm sunshine and a beautiful sort of Mediterranean view and a split level Dungeon with pool and rooftop bar.

I'm not sure if anyone has noticed, but the name of the site is 'Chastity Mansion'

The idea was that each section was named after a part of the mansion, with exception to the Mall area which was added later.

MistressWatchful came up with the section names and descriptions.

It's a tough one, as i can see your point in having simpler names, but also each section does have a pretty clear description under them as to what that section is for. People just don't tend to read them.

But, maybe you are right and maybe we do need to look into updating some.

    Always open to suggestions

No no. An orangery or orangerie was a building in the grounds of fashionable residences from the 17th to the 19th centuries.

More commonly now just a large conservatory with a solid roof.

Hence my suggestion that it be added to the Mansion :)

Can I call this thread to order? I'd like to keep off-topic discussion to minimum please, considering the room we're in.

Side chat (while something I like) is not welcome in this thread. I also love Orangeries, but what would be it's purpose here? The discussion of Narcissism?

Thank you @Administrator for giving the idea consideration.

Sorry @SubVerity it was me that brought in the idea of an Orangery for unusual pleasures such as an MP seemingly enjoyed many years ago - in a vain attempt at humour :)

Narcissi? A nice spring flower that would brighten the Mansion Garden up ;)

On the matter in hand - I reiterate my point. many now access the Mansion using mobile devices and the descriptions are lost. A few new signs could well be a good - if members actually read them ;)
